i've had the exact same issue, however, i've had to use the version of NativeUI that came with the mod, which fixed the issue, seems like a large majority of the mods aren't being updated, such as the map editor.
unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a fix for this at the moment.
Damn. If I use the one that comes with MapEditor, I can't use other mods which require 1.8 NativeUI. Welp, anyways. Thanks for letting me know !
I do have the latest UI and Map Editor works fine for me. I think it is backward-compatibile. I mean, it's just a menu after all...
Unfortunately, I don't know what this message means. Could it be that there are two files with the same name in a location that you want to open? Though that should be impossible... Maybe someone else who knows what this message means will wage in.
When I press F7 it makes a blip noise constantly and won't open the Map Editor UI.
It's a rather strange bug and I don't experience it.
I really doubt if other mods or scripts have anything to do with this problem... I also have "Street Races", "Menyoo", "Map Editor" and countless other scripts. Some of them very old. Still, like I mentioned, I have proper collisions on objects (at least the ones I tried, but I think it's safe to say others work too) as well as the ramp you mention.
Now, Map Editor will work with any Native UI version, including the newest one. It's just an interface resource that displays the menu. It should have no influence on the way a mod works. I have an updated UI and notice no problems when using Map Editor.
In my opinion, your copy of a Map Editor itself needs an update. Maybe it's just that you have an obsolete object list where stunt ramps are present on the list but are otherwise "empty" entities with no data to guide their behavior. Consider updating an object list or the Map Editor as a whole, and let us know if that helped.
@conjames23 - I may have an even easier solution for you. But first, let me ask you a question - when was the last time you made some proper maintenance work on your computer?
The reason I ask this is because this is what saved the game for me. I experienced some serious lagging and "stuttering" issues on my machine and nothing helped, no matter how complex and innovative the suggested remedy was.
As a last resort, I took my computer to the service point where they didn't even hear me out completely before they said it is time to replace the thermal grease...
And this was the perfect answer to my performance problems. The grease that was there from the beginning, worn-off after near two years of usage but when they replaced it, everything ran smoothly once again.
Don't get me wrong - I am sure you may know about stuff like that more than I do. I just want to make you aware that it might be a mechanical problem instead of a software and hardware setup. Many people disregard the simplest solutions available...
Hi Real Sways. Unfortunately, I think that map editor is no longer functional. I know what I'm saying, because all of my other mods (with varying requirements) work flawlessly. Map Editor is indeed the only mod that I have constant problems with.
I believe it is not your fault. Unless Map Editor gets some serious revamp, I don't think it will be functional. Strangely, I can still use stuff that require Map Editor. In my case however, I cannot either load or save any objects from any files at all.
I suggest you consider Menyoo as a map building tool. I assume it might even be better than Map Editor for some applications.
EDIT: I had a bit of a "revelation" and made a test. I was wrong - Map Editor does work.
The reason I believed it does not was that I could not open any of the "Community Races" with it. It might be a problem with "Community Races" coding, but not the Editor itself.
So, I suggest you thoroughly check the Map Editor requirements with special regard to the Microsoft .NET Framework as this is what most people forget to install.
Also, make sure you have a Native UI in your "scripts" folder. If you do, but have no luck running the Editor, you may need to use a different version of the UI (the one in the Map Editor download).
OK I seem to now be able to open the file needed to be edited but problem is it is defaulting it to open in MS Word which I only have the viewer for. Is there a setting in Open IV to change the default text editor that files open in as I checked but can't seem to find a way to open in a different editor such as Notepad++
Also will it require me to change in the Options/General tab the work more to edit or should I just leave it at the default of read only?
