.RPF Installation Crashes GTA 5

  • Hey guys!

I am relatively new to modding RPF files away from Script modding. I tried starting using something relatively easy with the Concorde Mod.

I installed files the relevant files, then it just left modding update.RPF. I had to add a few lines in an .XML and .META file, nothing else.

But when I go to load this modded Update.RPF (in a separate location) in Mod Manager, it crashes the Game after selecting Story Mode.

I tried loading the game when de-selecting the Update.RPF and the game loaded just perfectly fine.

For the sake of it, I temporarily replaced the modded Update.RPF as it were the original base game, and still failed.

Any ideas what I may be missing here? All I did was add a few lines to a .XML and a .META file.

    Thanks guys, Ryan

  • @DeadSonRIsingxD Why did you edit a XML file? When installing an add-on vehicle all you have to do is edit extratitleupdate.meta and dlclist.meta and make a new folder in dlcpacks folder and put the dlc.rpf file inside it. No XML files needs editing here.

  • @Zackintosh i guess you're wrong there bud, dlclist.xml is an xml file, not a meta.

  • @GTAVModder4Life lmao how did i confuse xml with meta. My bad.

  • My game crashes when I have too many modified files.

RDE often crashes, possibly due to the fact that peds.meta is now peds.ymt.

Also, do custom DLC folders go under x64 or update.rpf? Or do they go under both?

    mods/update/update.rpf/x64/dlcpacks

  • So no possible idea what has gone wrong?

  • @DeadSonRIsingxD

Well to install an Add-On vehicle here is what you should do:

(This one is for the Concorde to make it easier for you.)

    1. export dlclist.xml and extratitleupdate.meta from mods/update/update.rpf/common/data to somewhere like your desktop. This can be done by right clicking them and clicking "Export"

    2. Add these lines:

    For extratitleupdate.meta:

    		<deviceName>dlc_concorde:/</deviceName>
    		update:/dlc_patch/concorde/

    For dlclist.xml:

dlcpacks:\concorde\

    3.

Go to mods/update/x64/dlcpacks and create a new folder called "concorde" and drag dlc.rpf inside it.

    Done.
