Forza Horizon 3 Make H2O problem

  • Hi everyone,

I just discovered the FH3 models (yes I'm late, forgive me :D ) and wanted to check some of them out, just to see how they're structured and everything. But anytime I use the Make H2O program on a modelbins.txt, I get this error:

""error: model could not be opened or file size==0!"

I haven't found anything on google, it seems like the program is working perfectly fine with everyone else. Can somebody help me with this? Thanks in advance!

  • @Chezy What are the file types for Forza Horizon 2 and 3?

Can you maybe screenshot the game's car files, too, all with the size, date, and filetypes in the screen?

  • @krashadam
The cars are split into parts, and the respective files are .modelbin. The process of extracting them is kinda strange, here's the tutorial I followed:
    http://gamemodels.ru/tutorials/article/22-forza-horizon-3-models-extracting/

Since the files are split in so many parts, it's kinda hard to get them on a screenshot all at once, but the file sizes seem pretty normal to me. For example, the file that should contain the body model (all LODs except the highest) weights about 2MB. As for the date, I downloaded the car files just today (also from gamemodels.ru).

  • @Chezy I guess they finally figured out people were ripping their content out of FH2 and patched it in the next game.

Also may be possible that the way these modelbins are made is probably different from the ones used in FH2.

That or your program hasn't been updated to hack FH3 files yet.

  • @Chezy Use 3dsimedH or something like that its uploaded on gamemodels.ru. Make H2O has a few problems, it doesnt create materials and the doors arent at their correct location. U

  • @krashadam FH2 and FH3 files are completely different. FH2 and FM4 uses .carbin files, and most of the exterior is contained in only one .carbin. Same for the interior.

FH3 on the other hand, has .modelbins which were first decrypted by the program Make H2O and now people use the software mentioned above.

  • @AHK1221 Oh thanks! I didn't know 3dsimed supports FH3. It's working now, thanks a lot! Du you maybe know how the textures work in FH3? I imported the Ford Woody, the one that's also shown on the preview picture of 3dsimed, but I can't find the textures for the wood or the surfboard anywhere, they all just look plain white. On the preview picture however, the car is shown in 3dsimed with wood textures.

  • @Chezy The car's textures are in Swatchbin format, you can convert them to DX10 DDS with the Swatchbin2DDS converter also uploaded there. There is also a texture pack of common textures used by FH3 uploaded on the site in the Texture Packs category, it's at the very end of the list which contains all the games like FM4, FH2 and 3.

I haven't worked with FH3 models too much but I know a bit about them.

Aaaah, I was missing the common texture pack, thanks :D It's still not loading in 3dsimed though, but at least I have all of the textures now!
