[Vehicle] [WIP] Chevy Monte Carlo SS '88



  • @Yarm1995 Wheels are better as Add-On imo, they aren't related to tuning limit as that's just for car-specific tuning, like parts. To make a wheel add-on I recommend checking this https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/hq-b-rims-pack so you see how the data is done, etc. Basically you add them in <Wheels> section in carcols then just make an archive for the to be loaded from.

  • @GreenAid You are wrong. Those are also tuning parts, and you can get free tuning space if you reached it and removing a wheel pack.

    The part he mentions is bennys shop messing up, it works fine with trainer, I had like 400 rims installed at once... It doesn't affect tuning limit of cars. And if you replace it gets messy and doesn't have real names.



  • @GreenAid First, you can change the wheels names if its replace or not. I know it works perfect in other trainers. But as you can see in the comments its a bennys shop messed up problem. I warned Yarm1995 to make better a replace to prevent people that complain about it. You can see in a comment, there is one guy that only wants to use the Bennys script, and he complain to me.

  • @GreenAid @MrGTAmodsgerman I'm try to make those wheels as Addon, beacause it will be more convenient to have car and wheels in single Addon. But if there will be some problems for some users, i make replace then. Also, to make tunning wheels burst correctly i should edit rimRadius string in carcols? If i understand correct its same value, as wheelScale in vehicles.meta

  • @John-Lemon I'm busy at my new job now, and work on my projects only at weekend. But there is some progress, almost finish to make detailed undercarriage and frame. Also make interior paintable with paint5 and dashboard with paint6, so it can be painted separately via trainer or Benny's single-player mod (and edited carvariations.meta to make car spawns with different factory interior colors). And also almost finish working on normals for Catalina hardtop and convertible, so they looks much smoother now.

  • @Yarm1995 Hey I know what it's like when life gets busy and you don't have time to do what you want to do. For the Monte, I figure you have to use paint1 for the body, but what did you use paint2-4 for? Also, what are normals? you say them, but I have no idea what you mean by 'normals'

    Also, when can I test drive the Catalina? I'm impatient and I must have it now! :P (I'm joking)



  • @yarm1995 Would you be interested in converting the 1966 Impala I'm working on? I'm only asking because I've asked so much of you and I realize that you have a busy schedule and I imagine you have other projects you want to do. I don't want you to feel like this is something you must do. If you don't feel up to it, I can find other people to help do the conversion and you can do what you want



  • @John-Lemon Paints in GTA5 complicated a bit. Lets say you go to Los Santos customs and select paints menu, so paint1 will be primary color, paint2 - secondary, paint 3 is pearl effect color for metallic paint, paint 4 are wheels color. Paint 5 is interior color in Benny's, paint 6 is gauges color in Benny for default cars, but it can be used for anything, so i use it to paint dashboard separately from interior. Normals for 3d models its like normals in geometry - perpendicular from some point (in case of 3d model - perpendicular from vertex). So normals angle represent how smooth model and reflections will be looks ingame. About your '66 Impala, i'd like to convert this, but after finishing Monte Carlo and Catalina, so if you don't want to wait you can ask someone else, and i can provide some help, if needed.

  • @Yarm1995 First off, thank you for letting me play with this Amazing mod (and I do mean that from the bottom of my heart) and second off, I can't want to see what you do in the future!

    Ok, now to the teeth cutting, I did find a few spots that did seem off, but nothing game breaking, most were found from me nitpicking

    After having cops intentionally destroy a Monte I couldn't find anything wrong with the deformations, expect this

    This is a rather mirror nitpick, but this caught my eye while comparing the destroyed Monte (same one I used in the cop chase) to a fixed one. I noticed the shading was off on the chrome, but it could be that I running the game on shit graphics

    The dials in the gauges disappear outside the car, but are present inside the car

    This is just me, but I find it weird that the gas tank didn't burn after it exploded on impacted

    So what did we learn? well first, GTA 5 makes my computer run like a potato and the only way to play is to play the game on shit graphics and second, this a pretty solid mod!

    Overall, discounting the few and mirror graphic flaws I found I'd give this a 9.5/10. The car straight out the box is kind of floaty to drive till you drop it and even before and after that, the steering is a bit jittery. Understeer is a tad bit annoying, but I wouldn't discount that or change it since it would be right for this car (seeing that it's a 1980's GM).

  • @John-Lemon Thanks for detailed testing! About center brakelight: i'm try to shot it, and it breaks, sometimes only after few shots, probably glass/body collision partially covers it, so try harder. Whats on second screenshot, you try to make livery? I'm going to include a proper template to make liveries. About deformation and scratches on headlights, its how game deformate meshes, i only can try to reduce deformation level for this parts. About inner side of custom hood, yes i just forgot to add it. With dissapearing of dials pointers i can't do anything, its game feature and it appearing for default cars too:

    Instead of this black square on seatbelt lock should be some badge, i add it later.
    And when i making burn area, i want to make something like this:

    I can make burn effect on whole car, but i think it will be looks not so cool. But yes, i can add burn area around fuel tank.
