The new ads placement are ridiculous
-
@PNWParksFan Any ad distribution network that serves those fake download ads needs banishing from the internet. They are purely meant to deceive, and deception on a website does nothing but tarnish the name of that site.
If that's what that network is bringing to this site, then it is very disappointing to see... gta5-mods is better than that, or at least it was. The new admins need to tell their ad-serving people that those ads are not acceptable... ever.
But given this comment "It also helps to prevent those pesky "Download button" ads from confusing users further." from the welcome note, I guess they already knew about them and considered them acceptable.
They're not pesky... they're malicious by nature and are precisely why ad-blocking exists.

I feel you may have some rose-tinted glasses on.
GTA5-Mods has been displaying the exact same ads for a long time now as we're using the same ad provider GTA5-Mods has always used (Google AdSense) at this time until we can get the network verified on our own distribution channel. So...nothing's even changed on the ad front.
Please chill.

There are also more pages, the number of mods on one site is reduced.

@Dark0ne I feel the need to ask, if the ads are provided from the same network then why was it necessary to change the ad placement? Also, @ikt's picture you can see that the fake ad download button is more likely to be clicked on by other people while you claim that the new ad placements actually decreases the chances of this happening.....

@AHK1221 before we can place our regular ad network partner's ads on the site we needed to change the placements to accommodate the sizes as mentioned earlier and in my welcome thread. We'll be swapping over to our provider on June 8th when the contract comes into force. Until then, Google AdSense is being used as a stop-gap.
From then on there should be no more fake download ads as they are required to keep a high standard of advertising. If one slips through, I can take it directly to the provider to sort it out promptly.

@Dark0ne Thats great to here! Thanks for the clarification!

I have disabled my ad blocking software, otherwise I wouldn't have even noticed the ads.
The ads we have now seem fine to me. I like Google AdSense. If you move to a new ad platform, I'm probably not going to like the ads I see. I actually like the ads I'm seeing. As far as the location of the top ad, it should be placed under the vehicle mod picture. The ad in the mod description, is a bad location. That needs to go
With that being said, I would position the ads like this, I'll also be disabling my ad blocking software on this site in order to support the site, and would hope others do the same. Ads help to keep the community free. Having non-malicious ads is a great step to proper site administration. Some websites have options to make a one time donation to remove the ads, even though ad blocking software can be used. Something for the admins to discuss.
