BIK Conversion
-
Can anyone recommend software to convert MP4 to BIK i'm having trouble using RADtools
-
@westcoastsosa What do you mean by you are having trouble ? RAD tools works fine for me.
-
@V4D3R everytime I try to convert my file to bik I get an error that it can't open? it's already an avi since I couldn't get it to work with mp4 and couldn't get quuicktime installed either lol
-
@westcoastsosa I'm always a bit suspect of some of these video converters but this one http://www.bigasoft.com/total-video-converter.html might be worth checking out. According to the web it does BIK conversions.
Let me know if it works or not and I'll see what else I can find.

@krissboo Oh and after reading this http://www.radgametools.com/binkfaq.htm Looks like Quicktime is needed to convert, What codecs do you have installed on your machine?
-
@krissboo Yea I read that too you need it if you want to convert mp4 but for some reason the download of quicktime fails to install. How can I check my codecs lol im a Mac user and just started using windows this year for mods
-
@westcoastsosa Ah fair enough. Well Windows isn't too hard to get to grips with, but if you get stuck with anything give me a shout cause I fix windows pc's for a living - well that is when I'm not on here
So yeah codecs. Easiest thing to do is install this http://filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/ and go for the default installation without media player. Be careful to go through each setting before you click next cause sometimes it wants to install shit like mcafee that you don't want. Also there's a few options to click on and it's a bit confusing if I remember right.
Anyway let me know when you got it downloaded and i'll help you out
-
@westcoastsosa I'll have to shout you in a bit as i've just got to go out for a bit
-
@krissboo for sure man. ill install that and tell you how it goes EDIT: That was it! first try after installing that it converted my avi. Thanks bro
-
@westcoastsosa I use the advanced playback (without player), and then leave everything as default on that screen
Then in the next screen I uncheck all the boxes with system tray icons and uncheck the updates box and the configuration tips
Then just leave the rest and hit the next button,
you'll get to a screen with windows media player selection, I uncheck both boxes and use VLC media player for playing videos etc.
I think the rest is quite simple to sort out yourself
-
@westcoastsosa Haha sweet lol. Sorry I just got back and wrote you some detailed installation stuff, but it looks like you didn't need it
Oh and no probs mate, anytime you need any help just shout.
-
@krissboo ok actually it looked like it converted but just gave me a bik.tmp file?
-
@westcoastsosa Oh and the other good thing about that codec pack is you can do a quick upgrade next time and it keeps all your settings intact.
-
@westcoastsosa that's odd. did you try and install quicktime again?
-
@krissboo yea it gives me the same error about quicktime.cab
-
@westcoastsosa You on Windows 10 creators update?
-
@krissboo windows 8.1
-
@westcoastsosa Do you have iTunes installed on your pc?
-
@krissboo well I have a Mac running bootcamp. I have iTunes but not on windows. should I install it?
-
@krissboo @westcoastsosa This is such an easy problem to fix.
http://www.convertfiles.com/convert/video/AVI-to-MP4.html
Instantly lets you convert BIK to MP4 (not that I had to, I always use MP4, who the hell uses BIK?)
I don't know if the site is safe or not, but it's really the best bet at the moment.
-
@krashadam im trying to convert MP4 TO BIK for game files in GTA like the tv shows and movies
-
@westcoastsosa That site should do it too.
-
@westcoastsosa Well Itunes will install quicktime, but will also become the default player for everything so it is a bit of a pain in the arse, it's up to you. If you do install it, and you want to revert back to media player etc you just have to change the windows defaults.
By all means try what @krashadam has suggested, but be aware some of those softwares contain ads/mcafee/unwanted programs etc
-
@krashadam Unfortunately there's no bik option for output format @krissboo ill try that then
-
@westcoastsosa Another thing to check is to open services.msc and check for Windows Modules Installer service - make sure that is set to manual/auto. Start the service if it isn't running. (right click on it and start lol)
