Smoke effects on gun barrel while shooting?
-
Heyo, perhaps someone can help me out here. I'd like to add some smoke effects to a gun barrel when firing the weapon. Pretty much like this:
I tried messing around with these settings in weapons.meta:
<MuzzleSmokeFx />
<MuzzleSmokeFxMinLevel value="0.000000" />
<MuzzleSmokeFxIncPerShot value="0.000000" />
<MuzzleSmokeFxDecPerSec value="0.000000" />But the size or intensity just didn't increae at all and was barely visible. It's probably doable with a script, but quite frankly I'd like to have this done vanilla-ish without needing external files.

@SkylineGTRFreak i'll try this on a tank cannon. or machine gun. i'll try tonight.
an aircraft is moving at high speed in air. that's why you could not notice it probably. gta 5.
after firing look back to check

@FoxtrotDelta yes I think it must be hiiden there somewhere. I tried using the settings of the tank for the options above, but no luck, still small effects only. Perhaps I have to change other values.
Edit: And yea, I also tried while standing on the ground, didn't work.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak keep experimenting. change the whole effect name if you have to. i'll try as well.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak remember MK grenade laucnher? from my mrap that was taken down. it had a trail effect
even smoke gun i made for it might be able to achieve this . i'm hopeful. will let you know if i succeed
-
@FoxtrotDelta ah Is till have that punisher. I might take a look at this later.

@SkylineGTRFreak Didn't @Oskar script "smoke" (technically steam) for the aircraft catapult for his CATOBAR mod? He did do decent smoke for the Mark 45 for the Nathan James, and he was doing something similar for the missiles. Perhaps a script would be good. Also, perhaps the GAU/8 sounds should be scripted (if possible) so that we don't have to replace any in-game audio.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 @SkylineGTRFreak You're talking about this one, right?
-
@Oskar yeah. That's the one.
-
That would be tight last shot fired would be a lot more dramatic/cinematic
-
@Oskar that's exactly how I want it to look like.
The thing is, I would love to do it vanilla style so I can adjust the intensity and size individually for planes. (A-10 with lots of smoke, F-16C with just a little die example).
-
@nathanjamesddg151 oh and scripted Gau-8 sound would be a cool idea actually. Perhaps you have to overlay it over the original minigun sound, but it should be way louder anyway.
I just don't know how good the spin up/fire/spin down transition would be...
-
@SkylineGTRFreak the original minigun sound doesn't even sound like a minigun.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak The bad thing with scripted sounds from external source is... no appears in R* editor, useless for native edited video stuff. Editing game audio sources is the best way and a script can be added to use sounds replaced in game files to be perfectly playable and editable for videos.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 it doesn't even sound like a gun at all. Perhaps like a nailgun, but something heavy like an M134? Yea nope.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak nailgun. lol. reminds me of the "minigun" sound from Fast Five.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak maybe too late an you already figured out but heres some good smokin barrel action
