The end of OpenIV
-
Well guys... Take Two did it. Take a look:
http://gtaforums.com/topic/889348-openiv/
So far it seems to be true. Very dark day. It's just hope they don't try to brick the program through Auto update.
Edited by moderator FoxtrotDelta.
Click uninstall later to continue using opeiniv as usual for now
-
@SkylineGTRFreak they kidding with us
-
@SkylineGTRFreak Take-Two... the worst company ever since today for me. It's fun because it came a week ago to OpenIV team and today is the GTA V Warehouse end... so, maybe GTA VI being announced soon? They don't want to keep GTA V modding alive to make us purchase it's new game?... pfff
-
-
I'm heartbroken. OpenIV literally told me to uninstall the app.... yea FU**ING RIGHT!
-
@Reyser the problem is that OpenIV team are the only ones who put a proper tool for IV and V. Without them I wonder if GTA VI modding will even take off like IV or V modding. I mean anyone who develops a tool has to start from 0. Boy...
-
Is there an alternative to OpenIV?
-
Well, fuck.
There was this other thing, from that project that converted the RDR map to V, but that also got hit.
When are they coming for ScriptHookV?
-
@ikt Let me guess , soon enough?
I fucking hope they don't , they already fucked 2 Projects , if they want to fuck something then they should fuck themselfes in the head
-
@ikt If they hit ScriptHook, what's next for one of the biggest modding distribution platforms on the web?
gta5-mods.com
-
@Namie243 No.
@HeySlickThatsMe Don't forget about FiveM (although thankfully it was resurrected).
-
@sollaholla only a matter of time that's it for vehicle, model and player modders
-
Best bets for now would be to block OpenIV in firewalls to avoid and potential updates that'll brick it.
Apart from that, a question of waiting till someone else makes something. Or, another game
-
@sollaholla will space mod work then if they prompt you to uninstalled it how do we even get the models from your mod in the game?
-
Fuck Take-Two. I really hope they don't take down GTA5-Mods as well for their shitty online shenanigans. I remember and miss the days when they actually praised modding. I know for a fact Rockstar Games didn't make this decision.
Remember this? https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/18541/zombie-invasion-mod-for-gtaiv-pc.html
"Looks like fans are getting quite creative out there with fun new mods using the recently released fan-created ICEnhancer tools for GTAIV PC..
Among some of the cool ones we’ve seen, this particular mod pits Niko against waves of bloodthirsty undead throughout the streets of Liberty. Proving that modern-day firepower can do the job at least as well as Marston’s blunderbuss and holy water."
Yeah I miss that Rockstar Games.
-
@NotCrunchyTaco I might have to hault release (not development) until more details are released, or a statement from the DMC comes out.
-
@sollaholla dang that sucks. I'm gonna try to find a way to to block the uninstall prompt for openiv too
-
Man, this is a very aggressive move by T2 - and their actions could destroy a huge, friendly and helpful community with this.
As for the current state of openIV it looks like it automatically updates whether you like it or not, because I couldn't untick the box to stop it updating so yeah either block it in firewall or update it and click the 'uninstall later' option so at least it still works.
This sucks on a whole new level!!
-
@krissboo oh yeah the firewall should work
-
This Take Two movement just will to cause an effect: Massive installations of pirated games to make possible the usage the mods without limits.
-
@TGIJ I don't think anyone could ever truly appreciate the amount of research and time that has gone into developing OpenIV. Chances of another tool providing a similar amount of functionality is very, very slim.
-
@CamxxCore Yes of course. The OpenIV team put many years into the application, and we won't ever get something as well made for V unless they release the source code for it.
I reckon they got shut down because of LibertyV. I mean the guys who were doing the RDR map did, so completely possible that IV team got shut down because of this. Just a theory.
-
@All How do you guys feel about starting a petition?
We could set one up using https://www.change.org and get take-two to reconsider (maybe) or perhaps it's not a good idea seeing as their lawyers could probably find a legal loophole to get that taken down!!
-
@krissboo Whatever it takes.
-
RIP GTA Modding
