The end of OpenIV

  • @jkrzd you put a lot of work into making that comment look pretty lmao we got the point after the first time you crossed out R* lol
    and they will not change they're minds lol they don't want to compete with they're own games. Why buy the new GTA or RedDead for that matter if there's limitless content in GTA 5? Thats how they think.
    It's soft comments like yours that makes modding communities like this such a push over. They don't care about what you think, or a few hundred boycotts - they only care about money and microtransactions.
    What we really need, is a pissed off nerd to live stream the murder of everyone behind this decision at T2 and threaten them to not fuck with us.

  • Can't someone just copy OpenIV and release it as OpenIV Reborn? Fuck T2. Either lynch them all, or ignore they're cease and desist. Really sucks the OpenIV Team are such cowards and folded so easily.

    @meimeiriver don't be a pussy.

    No, seriously, publically calling for murder and/or to make direct threats againts Take2, that's not a solid plan. Even if you were being sarcastic, mood translates very badly on the Internet. This is not the way to go.

  • @meimeiriver idc. Hang them by they're dicks and burn them alive. That's what you do to Overlords who oppress they're people.

  • Wow, just wow, I've been reading the past hundreds of comments for the past hour now and I'm really shocked. Take Two really made the wrong move here, like....yeah I understand one side of the situation however I don't get why you'd go as far as forcing them to close OpenIV down, cause yeah I do agree with most of yall here with the whole business side of things, yes, I deffinetly think this is another subliminal way of saying "Oh, you, dickhead, play some Online", though I also think that they're worried that people within the community will use it to hack Online and I really think that's really unfair.

    It's not our fault why there's hackers hacking the game, it's not like OpenIV intended for that to happen and for that to be the case. I also don't think Rockstar would approve of this, and it's most likely they instead of T2 will make a statement regarding this. It's sad, really, though I do think that we shouldn't go all out making mods telling T2 to kill themselves or whatever and commit suicide or whatever (even though the mod was pretty funny 😂) since that'll add to them not wanting to allow them to resurrect OpenIV, I'm not saying we should not campaign and I'm deffinetly not saying you guys should stop giving Take Two the best L you could possibly give but chill out a bit and don't play at their game. Make yourselves known, show your anger all across the Web, even at T2 emails, something that'll make the backlash go big, if we as a community work together (ahhhrgh, the cringe in that sentence).
    I have only begun modding in GTA5 and was really looking forward to getting it. Unfortunate that this happened however I'll proudly say that I will continue learning, continue using OpenIV, and if Take Two don't like it, they can kiss my ass.

    Stay strong guys, and the community, the real fans, will win this.

  • @FoxtrotDelta this partition nearly has 10,000 signs https://www.change.org/p/rockstar-games-save-openiv lets keep it going!

  • @Paroozal Yeah, saw that, I think that that 10,000 mark will be hit by the end of today.

  • it s impossible to stop it, every game have different mod.
    (i don't say so many thing about texture in this game, but it s really a shit ;) without mod)
    Just need chinese server ;) or darkweb lol

  • Cant they just change the name and give it a new style i hope modding dont stop i think rockky just jelous that u was coming up with incredeble stuff that they couldnt do

  • This so sad.... I love GTA5 modding. Atleast we can still mod using the Open IV older version, as long as we don't update or uninstall. They said modding was fine for single player! Well i'm annoyed and saddened... :( I can't believe this. There's still so many car mods I wanted...

    They will come eventually, the last hours have shown that we won't back down so easily and will keep doing everything that's necessary to fight for our hobby and our passion.

  • What's next? T2 pulling a EA by shutting down R* and R* North ?

  • @Chezy Yeah, I just found out I can't use Open IV without updating... my mods are over. I'm just so devastated...

    Doesn't the trick in the other thread work for you? You should try it: https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/11908/openiv-trick-workaround-to-avoid-uninstall-pop-up

    By the way, even NerdCubed made a video, that's 2.4 Mio. subscribers he's reaching out to... it's amazing!

  • 2017 seems to be a shitty year for GTA 5 mods... Rappo retires, Take Two shuts down OpenIV... What's next ?

  • this is a joke, :( please tell me this is a joke. D: ;-;

  • @TheSigui The retirement of other R* CEO, that is the root of all GTA breakdown.

  • Well... OpenIV's demise is now on Take-Two Interactive's Wikipedia page:

    "On June 14, 2017, Take-Two Interactive sent a Cease-and-Desist letter to the developers of OpenIV, a program which assists Modders for titles such as Grand Theft Auto V, Max Payne 3, Grand Theft Auto IV and other titles, ultimately forcing them to discontinue their program or await further action. Their reasoning for the letter was because the program, OpenIV, allowed "third parties to defeat security features of it's software and modify that software in violation Take-Two's rights", thus making Grand Theft Auto V modding illegal."

  • @nathanjamesddg151 Looking back, the modding relationship with the GTA games was always controversial but friendly, until FiveM appeared, from there, GTA became tough and stricted and did not even talk about when T2 entered to develop.

  • I wonder when the community at large will receive an official statement from Take Two. I hold out hope that enough negative publicity will give Take Two pause, and they'll reconsider their stance on OpenIV. Write them, leave negative reviews (...make sure they're in good taste), and sign the petition(s)-- let them know this negatively affects us and there will be a potential boycott of their products if this is how they intend to treat us.

  • @BatKnight i just hope they won't only react for OpenIV, but also for mods on general
