Everybody needs to chill the fuck out. Back up your copy of OpenIV. Block it from accessing the internet via the firewall. Continue as normal. OpenIv doesn't need to be updated after every new game patch so just keep on keeping on. Yes, this is bad, but it's not the end of modding. We will keep going.

@TR71777 that's telling them what they want to hear. They want you to play online. You need to tell them that if you can't okay with mods in sp you won't play at all, and that you definitely won't spend money on shark cards.

Honestly Online mode is boring. If you not have in the moment friends to join and play, is like play old arcade games... One coin here and you are playing TopGear, other coin there and you are playing Contra and another coins anywhere and you only can feel almost satisfied if you have a penhouse, a big vehicle collection and some status, but, where is the "frenzy" fun? The shaking hands in middle of a massive war territory, if someone spent a lot of real money buying lot of guns and shark cards, but nobody knows how to live and enjoy with 1 round in the gun there?

I agree with you that we should wait for an official announcement from Take Two. I also have confidence in the modding Community to keep plugging away at modding GTA 5.
Things are looking quite grim though, I can totally understand why they might see this as a rational business approach.
This is a strategic economics thing. Putting our feelings aside and viewing this from a business perspective.
When a person buys the game the publisher gets paid once. They have your money but they want a long slow pay to milk the intellectual property... so they make dlc exoansions or have online subcription type stuff, in GTA's case they have Shark cards. So many people only play SP because of modding and never touch GTA online. The executives are aware that if they take away modding lots of those people will stop playing GTAV but they are also highly confident that some owners will go to online to get their "GTA fix." even if they only buy a Shark card once that one time purchase gives them more money than they had without that one time purchase... And if you stop playing their game then they are fine with that because they already have your money from the initial purchase. They are willing to gamble that their next product will be so enticing that gamers won't boycott... You know you're going to but GTA6 and RDR2 not matter how this modding news shakes out...

Maybe the C&D is just a fake ... I can't imagine that an official letter from a lawyer includes both technical and grammatical mistakes?

@PNWParksFan What's your oppinion on the whole thing, though? Like is this just a one-time thing, or are they gonna start taking out scripthook and shit.
(assuming it's a real C&D which is............... improbable, since they won't benefit at all from it)

It isn't about the nag message. We've got that part sorted already. It's about them killing development of the #1 tool used for modding GTA files. So many things left undone.
