We don't know if it will or won't be permanent, the rumors out there are most likely a hoax. If they are, it will still be usable, there just wont be any updates to OPENIV, that's all. @Biggdogg

@Biggdogg I think Rckstar knows how big the modding community is and what defistating effects it would have if we petitioned them, for all they know they could lose millions of dollars. I think they will step in and confront Take Two. Worst thing that can happen is they don't, but if they do, the second worst thing would be That Take Two Back out of Rockstar's deal.

There's more non-modders than modders, sadly. 9 out of 10 times they're used for movie making purposes, like in Blender, or 3ds Max. Unity is the same thing, but it's centered around money more so than getting work done. (I was told that in Unity, for every use of the same model if it costs money, is another downage of $$$ of set price for that model. You'll be paying for every time you use that model. Or so I was told.)
Another problem is modders here are making money. Obviously, nobody don't know how much, but if it's been a lot, this must be why Rockstar freaked and peaked at this and put OpenIV to a complete end.
But our paywalls here really wrong?

i just tried to make an update and it gave me an update, and a big ass pop up window saying so long and wants to uninstall...

@DSKTX So uinstall, if that's what you're willing to do.
Everybody should rip all the GTA 5 content before it officially dies... at least we'll have something to remember...

GTA V modding can't be killed regardless of the wishes of Take Two. They can't censor the entire internet and that's the space we have to mod and share mods for this game. It's a shame that OpenIV was targeted but as of now we still have use of that tool. No matter what happens we'll still be able to mod the game but the community might become more underground if Take Two puts any further pressure on modders.

@HeySlickThatsMe They can't ban a tool, as long as there are modders, there will be mods. All they can do is ban from GTA Online and try to C&D/Lawsuit the creators of the tool. The past GTA games had a lot of different tools to mod files into the game. GTA V shouldn't be any different. At this point we're just waiting for the right people to step up and take the initiative of bringing us some new modding tools.

@jspeed Take-Two CAN ban mods,, but not the way you think. Their bans are done via Cease And Desist , to which, if you fail to follow, you get taken into court, and if you fail to appear in court, you go to jail.
Not something we want to happen to us as modders from what I see.

@TheLoneWolf293 yeah i didn't uninstall, and it came up, but i don't think it works cause i added 2 ELS models for LSPDFR and they didn't work right
