@SGTMCDOOGLE If you have retail version, all you have to do is run the game with -scOfflineOnly command, and it will directly go into story mode without installing new updates of GTA. That is what I use, and you don't even need to be concerned about backups and stuff.Whenever it says it needs to activate, remove the -scOfflineOnly command, launch the game normally. Log into your account. After it says "(your username) signed in" wait a few seconds and close the launcher.
Then launch the game with -scOfflineOnly command. Works 100% fine for me.
To be completely honest with you, I never launch the game without the -scOfflineOnly command unless when installing updates. It works pretty much fine for me. I also use it because then it boots directly into story mode.

They are clickbaiting with misleading thumbnails, arrows and circles in their tumbnails, INSANE VIDEO TITLES WRITTEN WITH CAPS LOCK and bullshit speculations just to have something to upload.
You can't trust such Youtubers.Ooh, but little did you know, on June 5th, 2017, they legitimately received a C&D from Take-Two Interactive, they even made a whole forum post about it here: http://gtaforums.com/topic/889348-take-two-vs-modding/
Also launch OpenIV to receive the same news. You will be forced to uninstall (although keeping it is an option, they said not to to avoid legal problems.)

@AHK1221 is this something you enter in the command line doc in the directory. because when i select play offline it tells me none sense about social was not logged in prior to booting the game therefore offline mode is not available

@SGTMCDOOGLE Make a file called commandline.txt in your GTA 5 directory. In it, write down
-scOfflineOnlyLaunch the game.
When you want to activate it, just remove commandline.txt and follow the instructions I said.

So I start the game in story mode? not through Rage or the GTAV UPDATE BLOCKER

@AHK1221 it wont let me play offline, is there a way to force it to ask for log in data. Because it wont let me log back in

@AHK1221 It tries to start up and states social club is not available has the option to plpay offline. It acts like it is booting then states it is taking longer than usual. Then goes back to the social club is unavailable I select play offline again and it goes to another screen saying something about last log in failed or some just last that, then it says offline mode not available

@SGTMCDOOGLE Yeah, remove -scOfflineOnly and run the game with GTAVLauncher.exe, when asked to log in make sure to check Auto Sign-in. Then add -scOfflineOnly and run the game again.

@krashadam I know about the whole OpenIV thing but what I'm saying is don't believe everything GTA V youtubers say like they have information that GTA5-Mods is going to get shut down soon.

but it is not asking me to log in when I run the launcher it just goes to that screen saying offline mode not availble. Doesnt give me the option to log in and check the ticker that says autologin.

@AHK1221 its somehow screwed up on my end because when you got to the link to see the status of online PC says its up yet the software keeps saying the server is not up

I dont get it, when I go to that status screen it shows me that PC is up and I am logged in to social club. When I click play off line it says I am not logged in

The hell with it, i am going to have to delete everything on here and hidden folders and do a fresh reinstall with the scripthookV update comes out. Because I am blowing an entire day trying to figure it out. Just weird how everything was fine tuesday. Wake up on wednesday and there is a problem with me logging in offline.
