Thoughts on what we can do to mod SP now
-
... some thoughts of mine:
A. the petitions aren't going to change anything. end of story.
( but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try or give up)
B. scripthook is most likely not going to update.
( we wouldn't know, because there is no communication )
C. open IV is still working. so there is really no issue here.now, moving forward, I have a few suggestions.
-
create a tutorial ( images, to avoid any language barrier ) on how
to get your game running as it stands now -
the people like me, and others who had the foresight to back up the
previous version of the game need to help those who did not. -
the rumor of a script that allows offline play needs to be sussed out.
if it actually exists, then it needs to be distributed. never mind asking R*'s
permission. if they don't like it, they'll ask you to stop. doesn't matter, once
its out there it's out there, just like open IV. -
a clear and concise tutorial with images ( to avoid the language barrier, which
we all know exists in here ) to help those not "in the know" get there modded games back.if T2's stance is to abandon modders, let them. modding has always been a fringe element
if you will, and probably always will be, so we should all be used to it by now.
this is an opportunity to come together as an actual community and bail ourselves out. also, I'm totally
willing to assist in anyway I can. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has the the previous version backed up, but
I will be the first to say I'll share mine with others.
you can't play buy the rules if you want to win. and to me winning in this situation means nothing more than be able to
mod our games in peace, offline.just my 2 cents, feel free to add anything constructive to this post. but it's pretty much the time to go rogue and do our own thing
and nod our games. we can still get what we want and not make a lot of noise about it.in my estimation, this would be the best "fuck you" to T2 games there is... looking forward to hearing responses.

I've f*cked T2 from the get go, they don't seem to be bothered by it much
What do you think a thread like this contributes to anything?
-
By doing absolutely nothing, your literally telling T2 that it is ok and would like more in the future. This is bigger than just banning a mod tool. This rigged online micro transaction nonsense. Will effect gaming market for the worse.
Like what Rennie said this contributes nothing.
We are the bosses. We buy the games. We pay their wages. Without us, there is no them.

@Cass I don't know you but, you're attitude is like mine, never surrender

@Cass
Amen brother I agree 100%
-
Y'all want an unofficial broken scripthook? Most of the script stuff in the fivem source is outdated so I can't get thread slots in the thread pool for good performance but I can whip something up from my own stuff by hooking other things, I guess.
-
I think it's time to wait, lets give SHV at least 15 days to see what happens, he can take what feels like forever to update SHV. So lets at least wait to see what happens, before jumping to conclusions.
One would expect that if he had been sent some message from t2 he would have come out and said something, no word right now is a good sign, so just lets all sit it out and wait. Waiting has never (no), has not hurt or killed that many before, so just give it more time.

@KingsixIII Simón! Puro Neta!! Qye!! Can I Get Your GTA V backup Holmes? Porfas!
-
@Servulus give 'hook 30-60-90 days.. outcome will be the same. no new 'hook.
@cass, you sir are completely mistaken, you do not "own" the game. you took part in a "licensing agreement"
educate yourself and read the EULA
-
@KingsixIII I know why you have made this thread. I will answer anyway.
You are correct, they have every right to stop development and distribution of tools and mods.
Quote Rockstar:
"Take-Two's actions were not specifically targeting single player mods. Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players"This is false. Most of the multiplayer harassment is down to mod menus made specfically for online. OpenIV put procedures to stop OIV mods being used online.
OpenIV 3.0 was going to bring some great new features that would of made current mods better. While giving the ability to create new ones.

@Cass said in I think it's time......:

oh, you mean like the open iv team did ? they went down faster than a homo at a gay bar. I won't work harder than them on thier problem. the open iv team has moved on, smart money says you should too.
-
@Cass Well they are kind of right about the fact that it can be used online. I know players who have used it online.
But I don't see how mcLaren model swaps can harass other players. Players were able to model-swap faulty objects with normal ones to protect themselves from griefing (crash spamming) cheaters using openiv as well, afaik.
-
@KingsixIII Ask yourself. What would you do, 10 years of work. Providing free tools for the players. Then you get a C&D saying stop now or see you in court? A good lawyer costs a bomb.
-
@MAFINS you don't need to see "how mcLaren model swaps can harass other players" . that's not the point. the OWNERS specifically stated NO mods online. period. end of discussion. by allowing people you know to abuse the rules, you, in a way contributed to this. personally, I've never been online with this game and never will. not why I bought it.
-
@MAFINS I guessed some would work around the procedures. Its inevitable.
So openIV is being used to stop the griefers. Didnt know that, interesting.
-
@Cass true, it certainly does. but here's the thing. I'm going to turn your question back on you. how do you just give up and walk away from a 10 year investment ? you know a lot of blood sweat and tears went into it. idk. I just can't get my head around giving up so easy. which brings me to my running theory of, they got paid. R*/T2 are smart. by the tech now, implement it later as a monetized mod program. shrewd too. in this move, no other company could use this as they'd own it. part of me hopes they got paid big time. 10 yrs is a lot of work for nothing.
-
@KingsixIII Money. The way around OIV team fighting in court, is to get a saudi oil baron to fund lawyer costs.
-
@Cass And months of time
-
@Cass I said it the other day. the answer to 99 out of a 100 questions is money. but I sincerely hope they got paid. open iv is an amazing tool.
-
@KingsixIII I have not updated OpenIV yet, nor I have I updated GTA V. So to install new mods I see on the website recently I,
- Disable my internet for OpenIV use
- Re-enable it for GTA V
- Use GTAVLauncherBypass to get passed the update ( It works for me idk about anyone else. ) Link Here.
https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/gtavlauncherbypass - Play, with Scripthook working.
These are my steps, not very helpful I know but anything I can give to the community as information to help others try to play again (with scripthook) even if it doesn't work for others I'm sorry but maybe someone in this community can see this and inspire them with ideas on to improve these steps with more information or download(s) that will work for everyone.
-
@Vermin that's the spirit ! share. the smallest thing can be the key someone else is looking for.
-
@KingsixIII Thanks! Hopefully something can happen.

The issue is if every modder stopped buying it would have little impact on the bottom line. That's the thinking behind this. T2 knows this.

@jimboob Get with program dude. Im not talking about gta v. Take two is the subject. They have many other titles other than gta v.
