[MISC] Community Ultimate Gameconfig.xml

To this day people are still having troubles with gameconfigs. Whether that being game updates, stability or finding the right one to suit your modding needs. So i thought why not have the expertise of the community and create an open source community gameconfig.xml. One that can have the maximum add-on vehicles, peds, textures, props, etc.
The gameconfig can be tested along the way by the community. To make it completely stable.
The community can have one place for the their needs, mod authors can include the gameconfig with their mods and with it being open source. If the original uploader goes bye bye. Then Someone else can carry on the work.

What an absolutely brilliant idea. I'm down for it. Lately I have been experimenting a lot with increased PoolSizes. It looks like some specific limits are hardcoded into the .exe, but I still believe that there is a lot to be gained and that a methodically precise and painstakenly slow approach is the only correct one. Trial and error, as well as the eventual occassional succes. Over and over. But yeah, I'm down :0)
-
@grateful_for_mods i use the limitless addon gameconfig but after the game filling up 8,2GB / 16GB RAM the Game sometimes Crash without Error-Message. Maybe this is the hardlimit. I dont know if somebody knows how to modify the EXE that the Game can use more Ram...
-
@Cass The King of all gameconfigs to this date, is the one provided with RDE - I compared it to every single modified gameconfig, line by line, and all values increased are far beyond any other's out there. I have pushed ped and traffic densities to insane levels, with out any issues, no crashes, no glitches, no pop-in. It's absolutely a beast of a config, LOL.
-
@eshenk Do you care to share your traffic findings? to get the ball rolling.
-
@eshenk i can also increes the densiti and ped cound with std vehicles, but the problem is based on polygon count in add-on vehicles...

Tl;dr: Hate to be a party pooper, but this idea is fail, as it's leaning on the false premiss that there can, indeed, be such a thing as a 'One Config to Fit Them All.'
Each gameconfig.xml is made by Rockstar, customized for their current version of the game. Since this is a modders community, our respective gameconfig needs will, per definition, differ from each other. That's why a project like this can never work. Some have 50 add-on cars, others maybe 200. Some have video-cards with 16G memory, others just 4G. Some have many add-on peds, other perhaps none. Etc, etc.
Sadly, 'maximum' does not equal maximum stability. If it weren't so, people wouldn't be constantly struggling with their gameconfigs. Often too much of X or Y can cause a crash even. And sometimes too little of X or Y. (And this all relative to the amount of game resources you have available to begin with, like vid memory).
Also, 'mod authors can include the gameconfig with their mods' is already happening, and a terribly bad idea! Those configs are based on pretty much the sole needs for that particular mod, and almost guaranteed to either crash your current install, or make it decidedly more unstable. Never use those! (Not to mention that those tend to be hopelessly outdated for anyone downloading the mod later on)
Rolling a gameconfig will always remain an individual process, and almost always invariably be applicable to your own situation only.

@meimeiriver maybe we can make a Tutuorial with the Variables and Values... i dont know the exact way what i need to change if i use more AddOn cars, so i only do Try and fail. A Short Info about the single values will help mutch. So i have 16GB of RAM and 6GB of VRAM but the Game still crash with only 8GB Ram and 5GB Vram loaded
i dont know what i can do...
Maybe we can remove the normal cars from the vehicle meta so the Game have more Ram for Addons... ?

Personally, I love the work Willief23 has been doing with his gameconfigs and documentation. But yeah, this could be greatly extended, of course. Perhaps, when we know exactly what every (relevant) part does, even some sort of 'guestimation formula' could be extracted, to create a reasonable starter config for you, based on some basic parameters (number of add-on cars, add-on peds, vid memory, etc). That would be awesome!
I think Lee has actually done something similar, with regard to removing cars; which is to say, he removed all vanilla car-ID's, to have ample usuable ones for his add-on cars. But car-ID's is a bit of a different subject, though. But a good program that can create gameconfigs, for your own, individual needs, yeah, I'd sign up for that.

@meimeiriver Thats all theory. No one has actually tried. Theres nothing wrong with having a gameconfig mod with multi options.
