Mods Downloading as other programs

Hi
I have a problem downloading mods.
When i first downloaded a mod off of this site, it told me to open it in another program.
like Note, Word, Itune or any other program on desktop. How do i fix it and stop it from downloading in the wrong file?

@KightMare2112 You need to install WinRar, because nearly all mods uploaded here are in the .rar or .zip format.
