[VEHICLE][WIP]USS Nathan James DDG-151 (US Navy Destroyer)

    Overview:

    I am happy to present you a current project to bring the USS Nathan James from the TV series The Last Ship into Grand Theft Auto V. The destroyer is an Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer of the US Navy. The hull number and name are fictional, but the ship has the same layout and specifications as the USS Halsey (DDG-97).

    I have planned on doing an Arleigh Burke class destroyer for GTA V for quite some time, starting with a model from Battlefield 4. Upon closer inspection however the model was way off and I quickly lost interest in converting it. However, nathanjamesddg151 approached me on GTA5-mods.com with the idea of doing the ship for GTA. Not only did he have ideas, he also provided me with detailed models bought from turbosquid and selfmade textures to improve the mod.

    Progress and problems:

    I have since started converting and improving model, including the rear mounted CIWS mount and gun, small interior bits to connect certain parts, new textures and a detailed colission mesh.

    During the process, this mod has already given us a lot of headaches, but so far we have achieved most of what we wanted to do. One of the most important things is not working naturally so far though... The weapons.
    It seems like boats are stripped of several vehicles features, that all other classes have.
    What does that mean exactly?
    -boats do not have working weapons
    -boats do not have working door objects
    -boats only feature taillight coronas, but no beam of red light

    Once you switch the vehicle class in vehicles.meta from boat to car, all the above works, but... well, that ship sinks just like a car would.
    Luckily, Oskar has joined the team to help with certain features. The model has been splitted into the main file (Includes most of the boats structure, minus weapons and doors) and a seperate file, classed as car with the weapons and hangar doors. The plan is to attach the second vehicle to the main ship and thus create working weapons.
    Oskar has already succeeded in parts, but is still working on getting the weapon firing right. It's also planned to add a working 3-stage multirole missile to engage air and land/sea targets.

    Planned additions:

    So what is left to do? (apart from the weapons and doors)

    -create full colission for the ship and objects
    -improve some textures (mainly interior ones)
    -perhaps create a hallway system connecting bridge, deck and hangar (so far only deck and hangar are connected)
    -a static and folded SH-60 Seahawk in one of the two hangar bays
    -a more detailed bridge/helm (currently in progress)
    -handling adjustments
    -waving flags (if the possibility gets implemented in ZM3 by Oleg)

    Please note:
    The following media does not depict the latest version. Since the last screenshots/videos have been made, there has been additional work on interior textures and additional pipes/wiring on the ceiling of the bridge.

    @SkylineGTRFreak i forget, did the most recent update allow you to implement ladders?

    @SkylineGTRFreak Well from what's released here,I dunno if what I'm gonna say is already done after the video's release,just some suggestions :D
    1.set audionamehash to TUG to get a more legit large ship sound
    2.set the static SH-60 as extra so some of us (me) can get some nice pics of SH-60s taking off without another SH-60 taking the space on the ship :D
    3.set the radar/attenna/discs as extras and add FLAG_EXTRAS_REQUIRE FLAG_EXTRAS_ALL flag :D so that they can get damaged and fall off like the ones on the GTAV aircraft carrier
    4.anchor laid down in the water ? (Weigh Anchor!)(Damn I played too much Kantai collection lol)

    @SkylineGTRFreak By the way,are you going to update your USS-Dallas anyway?the handling still sucks lol.
    P.S:can I borrow your CVN there for a few pics?I know it's in a very beta version as you said somewhere ,but it just caught my eye ,damn it ╮( ̄▽ ̄")╭

    @Elope good ideas. Love the audio idea. Will that change also the sounds of when people walk over it? Right now it sounds like the player is walking on a car, not a boat.

    @nathanjamesddg151 Well I suppose it should sound exactly like when you are walking on the tug.
    I once exported the old Tug from GTAIV and set it as addon after the newest update with the exact settings which the new tug does,and it works

    @nathanjamesddg151 Oh and sorry to tell you that the newest update didn't allow us to implement ladders onto vehicles
    The ladder which works on the tug is related to its vehiclelayout setting.
    This decides how the player enter and exit the vehicle (For example:teleported into the jet or open a door to get in a car)For the tug one,it allows you to climb up from the side of the boat onto the deck even if there's no ladder for the first press of 'F' and get you drive the boat when you are pressing 'F' for a second time in front of the steering wheel.Guess you guys 'd better set this for the Natham as well ;D

    @Elope that's fine. There are only a few ladders, so nothing is missing there. Just means none inside the boat. Do you know a lot about the handling/vehicles meta stuff?

    @nathanjamesddg151 Search for this line in the Natham's vehicles.meta: <audioNameHash />
    and change it to <audioNameHash>TUG</audioNameHash>
    change tug to any vehicle model name and you can try out the effects of all of those audios.I'd recommend jet's audio for the cabby,it's hilarious lol

    @nathanjamesddg151 Well just got little better knowledge than the basic ;P
    Yeah,I can try to help to see if anything can be improved if skyline agrees.though my main useful point is on texture lol
    You can see I've made textures for skyline's UH60 and SH60 before.and also for the Hongyi Team's J31 jet ;P

    @Elope Same for me. The only thing I'm useful for is buying models and texturing. A few more things that will be implemented is in one hanger bay, there will be a static SH-60. I have to go out and buy a low poly one, because @SkylineGTRFreak SH-60 is too detailed. In the other hanger bay will be boxes of "the cure" like in the Season 3 Premiere. (Doing Dr. Scott's lab was too difficult). Also, @SkylineGTRFreak thinks he can connect the bridge to the hanger bay, though it will be somewhat different and/or time consuming.

    @nathanjamesddg151 Well I'd say make both the boxes and the SH60 as extras so when we spawn the ship,in the hager bay would be either the heli or the drug or both.
    I actually love these random spawning elements lol

    @Elope good idea. Two helis, one heli, drugs, etc. Once again, I have no idea how to do it. As for the progress, it's a different model than from the original mod. Ironically, it's a $35 dollar boat with $99 dollar chain guns and $15 dollar missiles. Spending more on extras then I am the boat.

    @Elope Oh, and @SkylineGTRFreak and I are trying to make a Navy Uniform to go along with this. We just need someone who knows how to do ped modeling. We want it to replace one of Michael's suits. It comes with a hat as well. It's a $99 dollar Turbosquid model.

    Yup. And those costs are probably just the beginning. Like I said, still need to buy a $60 low poly SH-60 for the hanger bay, you could probably create skins if you want, and a $99 dollar navy service dress blue uniform.

    @nathanjamesddg151 I was going to say that there's a navy soldier texture mod on this site already,then I realized that you are going to make that blue uniform right?not the millitary gears,bullet proof vests etc?

    @Elope there is already the navy working uniform, (the digital blue camo), but not a dress uniform. That's the one I'm buying. It has the award ribbons on it.
