[VEHICLE][WIP]USS Nathan James DDG-151 (US Navy Destroyer)
-
@Bjh1986Ohio You use OpenIV. If you want to retexture a vanilla vehicle, I extract the stock texture, usually enhance the resolution and increase size, then use Photoshop to create a new texture, then replace it in either the texture file, if needed, then back into OpenIV.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 ok thank you
-
@Bjh1986Ohio no problem. Glad to help a fellow modder. I would also look at YouTube tutorials as it is kind of hard to explain, but for texturing, it is easy to learn and do, if you know your tools (Photoshop, OpenIV, etc.)
-
@SkylineGTRFreak you cant make the flags move with ZM3-----looks great hope it will relesed soon
-
@ilayarye right now, no. We know that. Our scripter, @Oskar says that it can, most likely, be done via script. He just needs the location of a flag.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 hope i will improved the texture looks great good job
-
@ilayarye textures will be improved. It could also benefit from a specular and normal map, which, at this time, I believe that there is none.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 hey I have a question how do you install the livery/textures you create to other mod creators vehicles or do you create your own vehicle and add the livery/textures for the car
-
@Bjh1986Ohio It depends on the mod. Is it a cop car? From what I have seen, at least for the CVPI, there are two main UV maps, on which your texture is created. After you make sure the texture and the UV map are aligned, you simply open the texture dictionary, I think it is a .ytd file extension, if not it is .yft, and look for the texture that looks like it is layed out the same way as yours and replace it. Make sure you are using OpenIV. Just a piece of advice, just because you replace one texture map in a file doesn't mean you replaced the texture map that will show up in game. What rockstar has done is weird with all the patchday folders and whatnot.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 hey where do I get the uv templates or do I find it on the internet
-
@Bjh1986Ohio For what exactly? You need to be a bit more specific.
-
@Bjh1986Ohio These are links to UV templates for the two most commonly found CVPI's.

A wise word of wisdom: make sure you know what car and what type of template it needs before you start retexturing.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 I haven't created anything yet and I'm asking because I'm new to learning more about creating mods I don't have the material to create on my computer so I'm asking. Before I buy the material for my computer
-
@Bjh1986Ohio Well in that case it depends. If you are retexturing other people's mods, you need a Photoshop style program to edit their texture map, as you cannot change it. If you create your own mod, you will need zmodeler, and you can then pretty much create your own map, unless it is already mapped.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 any updates of the ship?: D
-
@Elope none so far. Haven't heard from @SkylineGTRFreak in a while.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 not anything worth mentioning here
-
@SkylineGTRFreak I figured so. If there was, we'd all know.
-
big projects like this take time. better late and beautiful . than fast and buggy!
-
@FoxtrotDelta not to mention attention to detail.
-
@nathanjamesddg151 yea.
-
Can't wait. Imagine GTA V machinimas with this destroyer. That would be awesome. Maybe we will be able to see some scenes in The Last Ship remade in GTA V.
-
@SkylineGTRFreak what is the the c arrier in the back new carrier exposed?!
-
@ilayarye CVN-65 Enterprise (driveable). Very very very early build. But that's on hold and will possibly a project after the James. (That or a more modern carrier like the CVN-74 John C. Stennis)
-
@SkylineGTRFreak cool i got hyped
