[VEHICLE][WIP]USS Nathan James DDG-151 (US Navy Destroyer)

  • @SkylineGTRFreak I got aircraft carrier a while back, as I wanted it as a map object to replace the vanilla one, but I never got around to asking. I thought you might find it useful for your John C. Stennis mod. I also had some flight deck personnel, but I can't seem to find them. That being said, the poly count is quite high for a vehicle, but I think I can shrink it if you want to use this as a vehicle. Also, since this is the George H.W. Bush, it is slightly different than the Stennis. PM if you want it. (Same goes for you @FoxtrotDelta)

  • @nathanjamesddg151 liaonikg aircraft carrier was enough trouble for me. Still gives me a headache when I think about it. Not a 1 persons job. Or may be im not that much into huge ships, I know ppl love them so I will consider helping you in it , in future once I have. Free time

  • @FoxtrotDelta I originally bought it so it could be converted as a map mod, not a vehicle. There was a USS Abraham Lincoln mod with an acceptable poly count (450k, I think), by the same author, although it's textures had less quality and it didn't have a hangar bay (The one on this one is simple, if I remember correctly). That's why I bought this one.



  • @nathanjamesddg151 rhoo no in vehicles, its not my target ;), just to have possibilities to create a really good map (same thing than BF3 mission)

  • @Oskar meh - I don't like the design of the ford class. But modifying the H.W Bush into a ford wouldn't be extremely difficult since the Ford is based off of the HW Bush.

  • @SkylineGTRFreak Got all the textures reapplied (mostly). Some parts apparently do not have textures. @Voltrock The carrier's textures are decent, but could be improved. My model came with an editable PSD (Photoshop) file. Do you want it?

    EDIT: Also, upon closer inspection, some things were not modeled [fully/correctly] such as the CIWS, but we have higher poly/better models (from GTA, the Michael Murphy)



  • @nathanjamesddg151 looks good, together with the John C Stennis this could make a good carrier. But I think this should be made a static model instead of a moving vehicle. That way we could also properly place peds and vehicles on it. (My opinion)

    actually i ve this one for deck texture (no release), i just need to work on stars occlusion (i don't know the name and the utility, maybe for water lol) and to dicrease space between 2 heights (5 heights = 1 boot)

    @SkylineGTRFreak my opinion too, a static carrier would be very nice to create a map mod on it (so many bug with drivable if u have many peds or vehicles, u need to do a attach)



  • @SkylineGTRFreak @Voltrock well then, we're all agreed. It should be a static model. Those stars should actually be points at which aircraft are tied down. GTA actually has a good vanilla flight deck texture. @CANAL-EMBRAER-GTA since you have already created map mods, you might be interested in this.

  • @Voltrock This is the GTA V flight deck. It already has normal and specular maps. Alternatively, for the tie down points, they were modeled on the flight deck of the Michael Murphey, so we could create a tiled flight deck model, which would look much better. ( @SkylineGTRFreak @CANAL-EMBRAER-GTA )

  • @nathanjamesddg151 actually the problem, we ll need to cut texture file in multiple parts (by 2) actually i ve a file (1,33Go xD with a 10k texture)
    less = blurry, i think about texture of aircraft carrier from Canal embrear (São Paulo (A12)) and to cut USN 77 with same means



  • @Voltrock you looked at the texture file? What do you think about the gta flight deck texture? Or my proposal about remodeling the flight deck? I can create a flight deck "tile" model (I think), but it will have to be duplicated and fitted around corners of the ship. We can then use a textured flight deck as an LOD. ( @SkylineGTRFreak @CANAL-EMBRAER-GTA )
    EDIT: Splitting the texture into two files wint be an issue since the UV mapping will. E preserved. We can just apply a different material to the flight deck in Maya so it doesn't read from the same texture file.

    I see the same deck everywhere (in fact it s a chemsol)
    good idea to apply different material to have different texture files (it s the best)

    EDIT : don't do same thing than gta, it s very hard to have a dirty in a specific place (i ll add dirty ;) scratch, gear, "degradation")



  • @Voltrock im not the one converting the model, but you if you look at those images, you'll see that the gta flight deck texture is more accurate.



  • @nathanjamesddg151 plus it has proper spec and normal maps, which are sure to work in GTA and look good. Also after experimenting with that Racetrack as add-on map, I gotta say that it isn't that hard to do.
