Changing vehicles' engine sounds

  • So you have just replaced a car in your game. The car you replaced has a 4 cylinder engine sound, but you put a big V8 car in its' place, so it now sounds weird.

Let's take it you replaced the Sultan with zQrba's BMW M5 E39. The E39 M5 has a 5-litre V8 engine, but the Sultan sounds like any japanese 4-pot.
    Here's what you can do.

You will need OpenIV, and I strongly suggest downloading Notepad++ for editing the .meta files.

So we're going to replace the Sultan's sound.

    1. Start up OpenIV. Click the 'edit mode' button as you always do.
    2. Find the vehicles.meta file which contains the Sultan's data. (mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5). Drag the vehicles.meta file anywhere, like on your desktop. Open it with Notepad++ (or Notepad)
    3. Press control+f, search for this line: '<modelName>sultan'
    4. A few lines under that line, you'll see the line <audioNameHash />
    5. Replace this line with: <audioNameHash>schafter4</audioNameHash>

How it works is between the two audioNameHash parts, where you see schafter4 in this case, you write down the name of whatever vehicle's sound you want the car to have. I wrote schafter4 because the schafter4 has a nice V8 sound that perfectly fits the E39 M5.

!For the schafter4's sound, you need to have the schafter4 in your game of course, which came with an update. If your game is not updated, you must replace the engine sound to a car's sound that you actually have in your game!

  • how to change sound of a addon car with a new sound mod downloaded from some site...

  • @Rick_th1 if its a add-on car go to your mods folder /update/x64/dlcpacks/(car's folder)/dlc/common/data/vehicles.meta

if its not there go futher in to data/levels/gta5/vehicles.meta

    hope this helps..

  • And you need to make sure you do update.rpf>dlcpatch>common>data>levels>
and do the change inside that meta file as well. Its many duplicate directories in gta and you have to find them all for cars, skins, handling, you name it.
