Cigarette in Face - JulioNIB's Superman Mod

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but when selecting the "Toggle powers OFF" option from the menu, the two cigarettes that the mod uses to position the abilities become visible and are very distracting. Screenshots:

-Decompiling/recompiling the mod with an edit to change the transparency (too many errors introduced when decompiling to actually fix)
-Replacing the cigarette object with a smaller object (messes up the positioning of the powers)
-Making the cigarette texture transparent (model will not use the alpha layer, transparency is not applied regardless of the pixel format, DXT1, DXT5, A8R8G8B8, etc)So now I am at a loss with a cigarette stuck in my face unless I reset my player's model. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Forgot to mention the location of the cigarette files, if anyone is interested in going that route.

@Bloodbullet10 It must be a "you thing", as I am reasonably certain the mod author would have noticed this while testing, not to mention the fact that his comments would be through-the-roof on his website, LOL...

@eshenk I wanted to make sure it wasn't a "me thing" so I looked up videos of people using the mod and saw that they had the issue as well. If you go to this video
You'll see a small white thing come out of the guy's face at around the 31:35 mark when he toggles the powers off.

@Bloodbullet10 WOW. Evidently the mod author didn't somehow notice, or just didn't give a damn. Have you looked at experimenting with different models?

@eshenk I have tried replacing the cigarette with some less-visible models, but they all mess up the positioning as the attack abilities are designed around the cigarette (to get the location of the eyes and mouth I suppose).
