Replacement car mods

I know that a replacement car mod replaces a certain in-game car depending on what you download, add ons don't replace any cars they are just added onto the game like dlc.
Now when it comes to replacement cars are they usable in online or is it only singleplayer?

@St4irs Try not to play online with replaced car installations, as they mod files such as vehicles.meta which can be detected by Rockstar so they may ban your account.
