Sometimes the mod installation explanation is outdated, if the model doesn't change: use the search function of open iv and search the model files. Most the time you will find them in the update folder under a patchdayXng, also replace them there. This worked fine for me - just remember only replace in your mods folder and maybe make a backup first.
