Simple Zombies stopped working...

So basically I downloaded the game a few days ago and I've been playing it ever since enjoying it extremely. I decided that gathering supplies to build a fort on a solo survival is sorta tedious so I turned on the developer tool to make a fort. I gave my character some things but shortly after I began building I could no longer access my inventory by hitting "i", it just stopped working. I can restart the game and it'll work again but then shortly after I begin building again it stops working again. Please help lol, I love this mod and want to keep learning/enjoying while I wait out my online ban.
