Game crash (game not responding) on loading screen when mod car

  • hello, i got Grand Theft Auto V [v1.0.1180.1/1.41] version, game crash on loading screen when i mod any of cars :/ any solutions?

  • @Kobalt7 do you have a custom gameconfig?

  • No, original

  • @Kobalt7 well then that’s why. If you are replacing or adding cars, then make sure you have openiv.asi installed. Also, if a replace car makes you mess with a vehicles.meta file or any .meta file then make sure you do it correctly because that’s an easy way to screw up your game.
If you are adding cars then install a gameconfig, preferably one from @Dilapidated. If the readme in an add on vehicle wants you to do more than just adding to dlclist.xml like add to extratitleupate.meta or add a folder to the dlc_patch folder, then just follow the instructions given to you.

  • @wlupoli thx :)

Nah. :) People should ignore and and all suggestions made by modders to add anything to extratitleupate.meta. You don't need that at all, ever.

  • @meimeiriver good point, with the newer versions add on mods are able to run without modifying the extratitleupdate.meta file

Newer!??? Never was it needed to be edited.

Indeed. In the days of lore people sought for, and found templates for their addon DLC's. And it was believed then, at the time, (and understandably so) that you needed to add to the extratitleupate.meta file as well. You don't.

Way I understood it (Lee tried to explain it to me once) is that extratitleupate.meta is being used, internally, by the game, to deal with priority of updated cars; or something very similar. At any rate, it will never effect your own cars (as you never have newer addon DLC's with subsequent new models of your earlier addon models).

Will it harm the game if you put stuff in extratitleupate.meta? I haven't seen evidence of that yet. But it's best left alone: it's simply not for us. And never was.

  • @ReNNie when I first bought the game i think it was version 355 or something and I remember that all my add on mods needed it. this was true for me until version 791.

  • @ReNNie Correction: some mods made it necessary to edit it or else game crashes or mod wouldn’t load. Others only needed dlclist.xml.
