Unbreakable glass in all replace cars

  • All Replace cars I'm using have unbreakable glass. They're destroyable, but windows (not lights, only windows) are unbreakable.
    Examples of those replaces:
    http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/14791-els-lspd-pack/?page=5&tab=comments
    https://pl.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/renault-kangoo-add-on-replace-trailer-extra

  • This is usually because the mod author hasn't given the car breakable glass which results in you not being able to shoot out of the vehicle. There's nothing you can do about it without learning how to use Zmodeler & fixing it yourself.
Is it ALL of your replace cars? If so, that does seem a little weird. Usually it's just the odd car, most cars are finished to a high standard including breakable glass.
You'll need to confirm the glass of a model IS supposed to be breakable & does work correctly for others & then work from there.

Some Ideas if the glass is confirmed breakable -

There is a flag in vehicles.meta called:

    FLAG_HAS_BULLETPROOF_GLASS

you could make sure it isn't on (ie included in the <flags line) of all your replace vehicles. I don't think that will honestly be the issue but it might be a place to start.

There is a 'SHOOT_THRU' flag column for

    CAR_GLASS_WEAK
    CAR_GLASS_MEDIUM
    CAR_GLASS_STRONG

in 'materials.dat' make sure that it is set to '1'.

The 'SHOOT_THRU' flag is in the second set of numbers from the right of the document & should look like this:

    1 1 1 0 < for CAR_GLASS_WEAK
    1 1 1 0 < for CAR_GLASS_MEDIUM
    1 1 1 0 < CAR_GLASS_STRONG
    &
    1 0 0 0 < for CAR_GLASS_BULLETPROOF

with the first 1 (left to right) being 'SEE_THRU', the second 1 being 'SHOOT_THRU', the third being 'SHOOT_THRU_FX' & the fourth being 'NO_DECAL'. ('1' = ON '0' = OFF)
See here: https://ibb.co/gfjYVG & here: https://ibb.co/ddx94b for some pics that will show you what it looks like.

    This flag isn't on.

All of the numbers are good except CAR_GLASS_OPAQUE (it's 0000 so maybe that's a problem)
I have this problem with all of my replace cars.

  • But add-ons work fine? As all these flags should affect add-ons too.

0000 for CAR_GLASS_OPAQUE is OK. That is the setting I have in my default vanilla files anyway (just checked) .

Checking your first link to the LSPD cars I found 2 people complaining of the same problem as you:

    'TheRealGaines' says:
"So I am still new to this whole modding thing and after I installed everything the police car windows were bulletproof ? Can anyone help me out? "
    on this page:
    http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/14791-els-lspd-pack/?page=4&tab=comments

    &

    'radcrazykid2' says
"Anyone to fix the windows on the tahoe they wont break and bullets wont kill the driver or passenger? its annoying when i get the stolen police vehicle call "
    on this page:
    http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/14791-els-lspd-pack/?page=5&tab=comments

This would seem to suggest that the problem exists in the car models of this pack.

    'serega2016' also says:

"why unbreakable glass and flashers do not work?"

with the same pack hosted on this site: https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/els-lspd-pack#comments_tab

You could try messaging the individuals & seeing if they have found a fix. Also messaging the mod author is probably a good idea as he/she should be able to give you a definite answer.

  • Hmmm? The mod auther does state that the glass should be breakable on that Renault Kangoo so I'm not sure what it could be?!
Are you using a trainer? Enhanced Native Trainer, Menyoo, Simple Trainer etc? If so, remove them all briefly & try loading the game & testing breakable glass then as they have settings for various vehicle invulnerability which may cause glass to become unbreakable. I only use ENT so I can't account for the others but removing them to test is a good way to eliminate the possibility that one of their settings is causing this.

I can confirm for sure that the 'primo' replace in this replace car is working & has breakable glass:

    https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/1967-shelby-mustang-gt500-hq-supertuning-lowriders-required

There are 2 cars in this pack. One replaces the 'primo', the other replaces the 'primo2'. You only need the lowriders dlc for the 'primo2' replace.
You could try installing the 'primo' replace (it is a lovely car) & testing to see if it has glass that breaks? Up to you, instructions below if you decide to.

    INSTRUCTIONS:

Once you have downloaded the file just use the car in the 'Primo Replace' folder. Ignore the 'Primo2 Replace [REQUIRES LOWRIDER DLC]' folder for now.

1 ) - Before you start, make a backup of these files:

    \mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday1ng\dlc.rpf

    \mods\x64i.rpf

    \mods\update\update.rpf

    & x64e.rpf (if you have no 'patchday1ng' folder) :

    mods\x64e.rpf

    2 ) -

    primo.yft
    primo_hi.yft
    &
    primo.ytd

    are then installed to here:

    \mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday1ng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf\

if you have no 'patchday1ng' folder then install the 3 files to here:

    mods\x64e.rpf\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf\

    3 ) -

The 'primo_mods.rpf' goes here (replacing the whole archive):

    \mods\x64i.rpf\levels\gta5\vehiclemods\primo_mods.rpf

    4 ) -

Copy & Paste the 'primo' info in vehicles.meta in the download (or copy info below):

    into the vehicles.meta here:

    \mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5\vehicles.meta

You can replace the whole file only if you are sure no other replace cars have used it. It is most likely that they have, so copy what I have written above from ' <Item>' to ' </Item>' & paste it into the extracted 'vehicles.meta' exactly replacing the original primo data & then place the file back in:

    \mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5\vehicles.meta

Load up the game & test to see if you can break the glass.

If you like the car you will have to source some handling for it. If not revert back to the backups you created earlier. If you try this let me know how you get on.
Alternatively, pick any other replace car you like on the site that is confirmed to have breakable glass & test it out.

  • Many thanks! I'll test it tomorrow because it's 10 pm in my country and I must go to bed :D

  • Cool bud. Just as a test I installed the Renault Kangoo as a replace for both the Baller & the Moonbeam & can confirm that for both of those the glass in the front windscreen & in both side doors does break for me but the back window does not in either case. You can fire through the back window but it does not visually break.

  • @JonaQ Glass is fully breakable in this car. I am using ENT too. I'll try to reinstall the Kangoo and i'll see how it works.

EDIT: Now I can break front window and passenger's side window, but I still can't break driver's side and rear window.

  • Any idea how to solve this issue?

  • Did you test the primo (GT500) replacement above (or install other replace cars that someone has confrmed to have 100% breakable glass) & see if you can break all the windows on them?
I chose the primo replace above because I know it works & the mod author has high standards. If it works then it is most likely you have chosen mods that are not finished to a high standard.
It appears you can now break some of the windows. Does this extend to all of your replace cars or just the kangoo? (ie Can you now break windows in cars that you couldn't previously?) If so, which cars? Do you have any replace cars that now work perfectly?
The more detail you give me the better the chance I have of figuring something out. This doesn't sound like a common GTA V problem. The solution will be specific to you.

Do add-on cars work? If so, you could perhaps convert the vehicles to add-ons.

Does your Trainer have a vehicle invincibility setting? Make sure it is Off.

Try a different Trainer to spawn the car.

Is there a carcols.meta & carvariations.meta for the car in question? If so, make sure they are installed correctly.

Make sure vehicles.meta settings are installed correctly

Test out everything you can think of (install primo replace above, install other replace cars etc) & record your findings & report back here. The more information the better.

  • @JonaQ I've tested Primo replace and it worked properly.

Does this extend to all of your replace cars or just the kangoo?

Only passengers side and front window works on Kangoo and this problem still persists on some cars from LSPD pack. The latest update is a good occasion to reinstall all of my mods because i've lost all edited files in update.rpf file.

    Do add-on cars work?

    Yes.

Does your Trainer have a vehicle invincibility setting? Make sure it is Off.

    It's off.

I'll write when i install all mods.
