Previously installed mods not installing on fresh install

  • Banned

That may have been the problem! When you have been copying from me the site has been removing the backslashes perhaps. Further investigation is needed.
I'll open a ticket for that on the site. That will be messing people up!

I sorted it out by adding tabs to the start of every line. What is written above CAN be copied & pasted into dlclist.xml correctly & will work as normal. It's the same as the dlclist.xml in the filedropper link above, either can be used although I now suspect that they are probably identical to yours :/

Not sure what it could be messing up your game & making it not accept mods?!

Maybe try reinstalling OpenIV ASI plugins?

    Tools>ASI Manager> Uninstall & then Reinstall 'ASI Loader' & 'OpenIV.ASI'

Perhaps trying to load the game with another add-on instead of the Firebird.

    Reinstall OpenIV.

You'll just have to try one thing at a time until you figure out what is causing it. Start from the fresh rpf mods folder point where the game loads & work from there only changing one thing at a time & trying to load the game after each change.

  • @supra9217 can you post a full screenshot of your whole dlclist.xml file? (please tag me @krashadam so I get your response. when I do I'll try to respond to it as quickly as possible. keep in mind my memory of modding GTA 5 is a little rusty because my Windows 10 is dead... like any other Windows 10 system...)

  • @krashadam Hi there, my dlclist.xml is exactly as @JonaQ posted. I copied that one directly into Open IV and no luck. @JonaQ , I uninstalled Open IV and all of the addons within the tools section, no luck.

I've pretty much ran out of ideas on this one :/ Don't worry though, I'm invested now. I'll be here until we solve it. :) (crazy smileys 'n all)
Are you loading a save from the previous instalation? Might be an idea to load up the game clean, start a new game, run through the first part of the story until you can save & then use that save for testing.
Post us a pic of you main GTA folder & your mods folder too as it will eliminate questions of folder structure/file placement etc (might save a bit of time).

  • @JonaQ Thanks for the support on this one!! I've done a fresh install, all old saves are wiped. So every time I am able to load the game, without mods sadly, it starts from the beginning. alt text

Play through the first part until you can save & then use that for testing.

  • @JonaQ Will do and sorry, the images won't post. Try these..https://ibb.co/n2Mt9b https://ibb.co/htEc2w . I have x64a-x64w in the main folder.

  • Banned

Cool, I can see them. Post a pic of what is inside the update folder that's inside your 'mods' folder & also one of what is inside your 'dlcpacks' folder in the mods folder too  Thanks

  • @JonaQ Just beat the first mission. https://ibb.co/hvMUFG https://ibb.co/c6mUFG

  • @supra9217 I know, but I'd rather have a legit dlclist, not a posted one.

  • @supra9217 Nope, no typos... hmm.

Edit: Looked over it again, still nothing.

  • @krashadam RIGHT!? Its driving me crazy! It's like theres some sort of saved cache somewhere but I have cleared everything possible!

Have you tried installing the tkmods included dlclist.xml with the new save you have made?
I'm thinking install the tkmods dlclist.xml, & try loading the game without ENT in the main folder (just to see if it loads, I know you won't be able to spawn the car).
Also, have a look in the various .log files in the main GTA V folder for any errors (ent-log.txt, OpenIV.log, ScriptHookV.log etc) .
Also track down your main GTA V log file after a crash & have a look at it/post it here

    documents>rockstargames>gtav>launcher.log
(^ I pulled that from a 2015 post & I've never seen a log file there so R* may have changed location. I'll Google for newer info but after a crash have a look there anyway)

What program are you using to edit .xml files (dlclist.xml etc) & how are you saving them?
It's just I remember you calling dlclist.xml a txt file earlier in the thread & I now notice that there is no 'ScriptHookVDotNet2.xml' in your main GTA V folder just a 'ScriptHookVDotNet2' text file with no extension (that I presume is the .log file).
In fact you have a few files in there without extensions & only 'ent-config' is actually marked as a .xml file in the 'Type' column. I just want to rule out that dlclist.xml isn't being saved as a .txt file (or just .file, dlclist. or dlclist.xml.xml) & that you have ALL of Scripthook's required files.

In Windows Explorer (a folder, any folder), click the 'Tools' tab (top left) > 'Folder options...'> 'View' tab & make sure 'hide extensions for known file types' is NOT ticked. press 'Ok' after & have a look for mistakes in file extensions (.xml.xml etc).

    Extra Things:

Also, go through the files (especially .dll, .xml & .asi) in your GTA V folder & make sure all of them are unblocked. Refer to this http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-windows-blocked-access-file for instructions if you don't know how to check

This link http://steamcommunity.com/app/271590/discussions/0/1368380934244197003/#c1368380934244499526 (& the link it contains) may be of use for troubleshooting in your own time.

Return to this (below) & install & use these in future (they will save you sooner or later):
Notepad works but Notepad++ is way better: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.5.3.html
It's XML Toolkit plugin is also very useful: https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins/files/XML Tools/ (after installing XML Toolkit & opening Notepad++ you can select 'Plugins'> 'XML Tool' & then 'Check XML syntax now' to check for syntax errors (has saved me a few times from silly typos etc & even saved me once from a syntax error in a released mod I downloaded)

  • @JonaQ To edit the files, I'm using notepad and saving as the original file formate, i.e. xml. Then loading into OpenIV. Heres a screenshot of the launcher log. https://ibb.co/k1YmCw

Fixed the Scripthook issue as well.

  • @supra9217 If you right click on an XML file in OpenIV you can edit it right there and then. saves you from filling your hard drive (or thumbdrive, whatever)

@supra9217 Hmmm? it's quite a broad error, hard to pinpoint :/ I think we have got to the point where it's just throw whatever you have got at it & see if something sticks.
It's most likely that you are going to be the one that solves this. You have to think about what hasn't changed since the old install (ie your drivers for everything on your PC, your OS (possible corrupted system32.dll's, maybe it's time to reinstall OS? Maybe try a restore point from before the error occurred?), other programs that interfere with mod asi or dll's (uninstall them), damage to your hard drive etc. I fix computers for a living, they NEVER stay the same from day to day.

    That said try:
Removing OpenCameraV.asi & it's txt file. (< just to remove it as a variable).

Have you uninstalled & also checked for full uninstallation (deleted folders/files left over) for:

    OpenIV:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\New Technology Studio\Apps\OpenIV
OpenIV keeps a decent amount of info about your computer here:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\New Technology Studio\Apps\OpenIV\Games\Five

    Scripthook
    ScripthookDOTNet
    SocialClub (more on that below)

Enhanced Native Trainer (& any other Trainer)

    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\GTAV Enhanced Native Trainer\ent.db

    Everything in:

    C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Rockstar Games

    SocialClub:
If you haven't uninstalled & reinstalled Social Club. There is a lot of info stored there & may be the cache you talked of earlier. For me it is installed here:

    C:\ProgramData\Socialclub

May be different for Steam. Just do a search on C drive for 'pc_settings.bin' if you can't find it (make sure it's in a Social Club folder before deleting it etc. Also make a backup of entire folder structure just in case).
Deleting these 2 files have solved 0x0000005 errors for other people:

    C:\ProgramData\Socialclub\Player\271590\cfg.dat

    C:\ProgramData\Socialclub\Player\271590\pc_settings.bin

Note: The '271590' may be different for you.

The info I found said 'cfg.dat' & 'pc_settings.bin' were stored here:
    C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles\ACCOUNT-CODE\ (<check there too)

If you can, uninstall Social Club, check folders to make sure EVERYTHING is removed. Reinstall Social Club & do the same for all the stuff listed above.

    Other random ideas:

Uninstall completely ENT & try a different Trainer
    Switch off anti-virus
Have you overclocked you CPU? Default the BIOS.
Default the BIOS whether you have overclocked or not.
2 Audio drivers? Disable unessesary ones in Device Manager
Try running the modded game in Windows Safe Mode
Reinstall Directx (make sure complete uninstall)
Run Disk Check on install drive
Run Disk Check on C: drive
    Defragment install drive
Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to uninstall GPU drivers completely & then reinstall them normally (this gave me an extra 15fps over what I had before at 4K DSR & now smooth 60fps :) ) http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Uninstall programs & drivers you have installed since the error started.
Contemplate throwing computer out of very high window (briefly, don't actually do it!)

    I'll continue researching this

Also copy & paste here a copiable version of you GTA log rather than a pic (it will aid in searching for similar online rather than having to type out parts of it)
