You could try looking for info in Windows Event Viewer:
'Start Orb'>right-click 'Computer'>'Manage'>'Event Viewer'>'Windows Logs'>'Application'
Then look for GTA V related errors (red circle with exclamation in it (= serious)) that coincide with the crashes you have been getting (ie same time).
You can then right-click the error>'Copy'>'Copy Details as Text' & paste anything relevant here.

@JonaQ Confirmed, nothing GTA related
-
Was there any other errors for anything else in there or was the page blank? Just wanted to make sure the event services were running & collecting info correctly. Usually, there is a ton of stuff in there even for a healthy computer.

Here is a good link to read & progress though while troubleshooting:

@JonaQ Complete system wipe and still nothing! I found every instance of GTA, Rockstar Games, Social Club and Open IV on my computer, removed, reinstalled, NOTHING! Damn mods! I'll take a look at this one and try some of the suggestions out.

According to a few other posts on this forum there is a new GTA V update on it's way to you now.
Think it went live on the 12th:http://store.steampowered.com/news/?appids=271590
If you can, might be worth trying it out & seeing if does anything for your problem if you can't solve it any other way. You never know.

Wondering if you had any luck? Newest version (1.0.1290.2) of Scripthook has been released if you have updated the game http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/
If you are staying on 1180.2 (I haven't used this myself) I believe this can be used to bypass an update:

I reckon it's also worth you checking the integrity of Windows .dll's too. Instructions here:
https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow-to-repair-windows-system-files-2626161
You can't do any harm trying this & it will highlight & (usually) fix any corrupted .dll's

@JonaQ To be honest with you, I really haven't had the chance to look at anything. But, random though that's been going through my head. Install the game on a different HDD and run it solely off that. Long shot here but if anything is causing save data on the one HDD, I'm hoping the other would miss it.

@supra9217 Anything is worth a try at this point.
I would also run checkdisk https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee872425.aspx on all your hard drives (can also be accessed by going to:
My Computer > Right-click the hard drive > Properties> Error-checking> Check Now > To start with just make sure only the 'automatically fix file system errors' is ticked (should take ~15>20mins to complete). Make sure 'Scan for & attempt recovery of bad sectors' is unticked as this takes a LOT longer to complete (like hours) & can potentially make your computer inoperable if the damage to your hard drive is extreme (it's a little heavy handed sometimes. I only mention it so you know it is there when you have nothing left to lose). Restart you computer after doing either of the above.As mentioned in previous post, definitely try checking the integrity of Windows .dll's too. Instructions here:

The only time I have seen sfc fail is when the backup store of dll's is also corrupted. If that is the case then a reinstall of Windows is advised.
Windows disc images can be downloaded here (after entering your product key to verify): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/

Similar problem in this thread:

Just so you can watch it for info

Had a problem similar to yours after a new fresh start at modding after updating the game. With mine the game would crash on start up after I added 1 or maybe 3 add-ons. The small circle loading icon would stop spinning & freeze as the game was loading. GTA V has stopped working etc.
I tried out a few different modded gameconfig.xml's & this one fixed the problem for me
https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gameconfig-for-patch-1-0-757-2-update-at-each-r-update
If it doesn't work it's still very much worth experimenting with other gameconfig.xml's https://www.gta5-mods.com/search/gameconfig to see if you can find one that works for whatever version of the game you are on. Keep a backup of your original.

Haven't had much time to play around with this but finally had a minute yesterday. The modded gameconfig file worked!!! Thanks for keeping up on this @JonaQ

@supra9217
No problem, glad you got it workingPure luck I found myself in a similar situation & decided to change my gameconfig. Shows they are not all born equal (as I already had a modded one installed). It took a while but we got there in the end. Enjoy modding GTA V
