Exporting texture files from OpenIV
-
Hello!
I have downloaded the Volvo 242 mod by Zievs, and I have edited some things such as yellow headlights and tinted taillights, however, I would love to make a windshield sticker.
I have checked the .ytd file and there is no texture for the windshield to export, I am new to modding GTA V so this may not be possible, but it should be, as everything has a texture if it is visible, right?
I would like to export the windshield texture and apply a sticker - basically just editing the texture of the windshield by adding text at the bottom -, but the problem is, I don't know how (if you can) to export the texture for it.So is there a way to do this?
According to me, you should technically be able to edit it as it must have a texture file somewhere.Any help is appreciated!

I'm guessing it uses the generic windshield from the vehshare.ytd inside x64e.rpf
If you take that texture, edit a sticker in it, and add that texture file (keeping the orginal name) inside the v242.ytd, it could work?

Tried on a Volvo 945 mod:
There is a file called "windows" and it shows the grid of the lods, but when I tried to export it from the .ytd file it was just a white stripe to the left, so I got curious and tried other files and pretty much all the files worth editing are just white and transparent.Tried on the Volvo 242 mod:
I edited the generic-windows-file in gimp and added some text, I dragged that file into the .ytd file then opened the .yft file and imported a vehshare.ytd file which contained the edited windows, but that didn't work either.I appreciate the help though!

well it was a long shot, probably the windows texture is just a small 64x64 greyish texture then instead of taking the generic_windows one

The windows file you are looking for might be under the vehshare.ytd if not you would have to contact the model creature and ask for the vehicle template to be able to edit it. also if you manage to get the textures for the windows and they are not visible or you wish to create this into a livery you need to add this line to vehicle.meta FLAG_HAS_LIVERY if its not there already. Hope this helps

@NorrländsK Tja!
