Need Help Identifying Faulty File Lines

  • Right... is this the right forum?

    Anyway, I have been using OpenIV to change how weapons handle, make combat more challenging, etc. Several times in the process, I have hit several walls... err crashes. But I ignored it.

    Except now. It's been maybe the 4th or 5th time the game crashed during prolonged combat with cops, all seemingly for no reason. My only hunch right now is that weapons may not always function correctly beyond a certain range, and that only because I changed weapon definition files.

    I have narrowed down to the several files I edited. Only problem is, I don't know which one is the faulty one! I think the culprit is either the weapons.meta or weaponanimations.meta (the ones found in update.rpf/common/data/ai), since the game did crash during prolonged combat with the police, with only ScriptHookV, a trainer, OpenIV, and those files installed.

    I think these lines may be suspicious (from WEAPON_ASSAULTSMG in weapons.meta):
    <LockOnRange value="55.000000" />
    <WeaponRange value="9999.000000" />
    <BulletDirectionOffsetInDegrees value="0.000000" />
    <AiSoundRange value="-1.000000" />
    <AiPotentialBlastEventRange value="-1.000000" />
    <DamageFallOffRangeMin value="150.000000" />
    <DamageFallOffRangeMax value="600.000000" />
    <DamageFallOffModifier value="0.300000" />

    I am running version 1.0.1290.1. The files I edited and then installed into the game through OpenIV and the log files can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nzY3pdGp7ACAXNFohOifjf-a-3my5nD7?usp=sharing

    You could narrow it down by restoring said files until it stops crashing and then keep narrowing it down by using a diff tool and carefully applying the changes until it messes up again.

    So, without modded weapons.meta files you don't crash during prolonged firefights? @Designer225

    I know RDE eg needs increased gameconfig.xml values dealing with cops, chases etc. Those poolsizes are in the first few of the file.

    You could try and increase those values x2 to see what it does.
