Cant figure out how to mod this car in.

  • I've tried many things in making this car mod work, yet nothing did.
    the car mod itself is pretty rare to find and I'm sure its the only mod of it available.
    the file comes with the usual DLCpack file and it has instructions:

    1. Create a folder named "rs6" in :\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks

    2. Open OpenIV and extract the "dlc.rpf" from the current archive to \Grand Theft Auto V\update\x64\dlcpacks\rs6

    3. Add the following line:

      <Item>dlcpacks:\rs6\</Item>

    4. Save the changes and copy the edited "dlclist.xml" back to: \Grand Theft Auto V\update\update.rpf\common\data

    5. Then, go to :\Grand Theft Auto V — open trainerv.ini — Search (Ctrl+F) — "//Added Cars //" section

    6. Change Enable1=0 to Enable1=1

    7. Change ModelName1=turismo(example) to ModelName1=rs6

    8. Change DisplayName1=Car 1 to DisplayName1=Audi RS6 DTM

    9. Save the changes and copy the edited "trainerv.ini" to: \Grand Theft Auto V

    Problems I faced:

    1. the issue I had was with the ModelName1=turismo to ModelName1=rs6 where I already had cars taking its place but I deleted some cars or just added one the rs6 with the upcoming numbers.

    2. I thought that I already had an rs6 but not the same kind yet it might have the same code names, therefore, creating duplicate codes. which I then tried to solve by removing or replace with the files that I want.

    yes, I had to find a Russian modding site but its worth it for this car.

    if any of you figured how to install it please share because I've seen youtube videos of it and I'm dying to try it out.
    Thanks in advance!

    @Vinecars

    dlclist.xml should look like this at the bottom:

    		<Item>dlcpacks:\rs6\</Item>
    	</Paths>
    </SMandatoryPacksData>

    & should be installed here:

    \mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\dlclist.xml

    rs6 dlc.rpf should be in this folder path:

    mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\rs6\dlc.rpf

    with the car's .yft ending up here:

    mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\rs6\dlc.rpf\x64\vehicles.rpf\rs6.yft

    Forget the rest of the instructions using trainerv.ini. If everything in your game is as above^, load the game & spawn the car manually using the name 'rs6' (you may have to remove trainerv.ini/set it to default briefly before loadiing the game to make sure it's settings aren't messing things up). If no ability to type the name of a car to spawn it exists, use another trainer.

    Extra:
    You can use Ctrl+F3 in OpenIV to search for 'rs6.yft' & make sure you don't have 2 different cars with the same spawn name.

    I have a car that is already called RS6 that i got from a car pack. is it possible that i can just replace the files with the intended RS6 ?

    You mean take the new rs6 files (.yft, .ytd etc) & overwrite the same files in the install of the car pack where your old rs6 is located? Then, the answer is yes, that would work (as long as you have a way to spawn the old rs6 at the moment). You will however have to also overwrite the handling, vehicles, carcols etc of the old rs6 to make sure the new rs6 functions correctly.
    The most important thing is that both cars (with the same spawn name) do NOT exist in the game at the same time. :thumbsup:
    Also, I can confirm the car works perfectly in game

    I tried to do that but some files are a bit different with additional files.
    i left some as is because they had the same things written on them.
    but the game crashed when it was loading with an error notification.

    Those are 'content.xml' files right? What they do is tell the game where the meta files & .rpf archives are located within the dlc. There is no need to edit them when you are trying to get a vehicle to work unless you are creating a whole new dlc for that vehicle.
    The only files you should be editing are:

    handling.meta
    vehicles.meta
    carcols.ymt/.meta
    carvariations.ymt/.meta

    & overwriting the cars .yft/s & .ytd/s

    Nothing else.

    What you would do is replace the RS6 .yft's &.ytd's with the ones from the Betsafe RS6 & then replace the RS6 sections (usually from '<Item>' to '</Item>' or something similar) inside the 4 files mentioned above (ie handling, vehicles, carcols & carvariations) with the ones from the Betsafe RS6. That's it, don't touch any other files. Leave everything else where it is.

    Note: If you just drop the entire file from one car to another you WILL run into trouble. Crashes, cars not appearing etc. You need to copy & paste JUST the sections (see handling example below) inside the files that correspond to the car in question.

    Example: (handling.meta)

     <Item type="CHandlingData">
      <handlingName>RS6</handlingName>

      <fSeatOffsetDistY value="0.000000" />
      <fSeatOffsetDistZ value="0.000000" />
      <nMonetaryValue value="35000" />
      <strModelFlags>440010</strModelFlags>
      <strHandlingFlags>0</strHandlingFlags>
      <strDamageFlags>0</strDamageFlags>
      <AIHandling>AVERAGE</AIHandling>
      <SubHandlingData>
        <Item type="CCarHandlingData">
          <fBackEndPopUpCarImpulseMult value="0.100000" />
          <fBackEndPopUpBuildingImpulseMult value="0.030000" />
          <fBackEndPopUpMaxDeltaSpeed value="0.600000" />
        </Item>
        <Item type="NULL" />
        <Item type="NULL" />
      </SubHandlingData>
    </Item>

    Hint: If you extract (drag & drop from OpenIV to Windows) the files you are editing & use Notepad++ to open them, when you click on a line Notepad++ will highlight that section with a red vertical line going from the start to the end (do make sure you are clicking on the starting line of that cars section though, as there are sections within sections). So clicking on a '<Item type="CHandlingData">' line in 'handling.meta' will create a red line that goes to the end of that car's handling & shows you exactly what you need to copy :thumbsup:

    Handling.meta:
    Starts with - '<Item type="CHandlingData">'
    Ends with - '</Item>'

    Vehicles.meta:
    Starts with - '<Item>' (Hint: the one above the '<modelName>' line)
    Ends with - '</Item>'

    Carcols.ymt/meta:
    Starts with - '<Item>' (Hint: the one above the '<kitName>' line)
    Ends with - '</Item>'

    Carvariations.ymt/meta:
    Starts with - '<Item>' (Hint: the one above the '<modelName>' line)
    Ends with - '</Item>'

    Did you edit the 'content.xml' files while you had them open? As this can cause crashes if you make a mistake. If you can, revert to a backup that works (or redownload all the files & install them again clean) & then start from there.

    Removing lines from your 'dlclist.xml' one at a time until your game doesn't crash will tell you in which dlc/s the error is located & may be a good place to start also.
