Modifying car engine statistics?

  • Hey, its me, the question boy again :dagger:
    I was tweaking my handling.meta and i started thinking..

    Are things like RPM limits and gear shift RPS's also somehow defined in this file or is there another?

    How about engine power and torque?

  • MODERATOR

    There's number of gears, acceleration (torque) and top speed.

    Shifting <-> RPM parameters are all in the exe and the behavior seems not to be adjustable.

    That makes me wonder because you created the famous manual transmission mod. This not meant to be snarky. I'm really just wondering.

  • @ikt

    I see. Too bad :/ i guess this also negates the possibility of mod, that adds setting to automatic gearboxes like sport, normal and so forth?

    There are few parameters with word inertia in them. The word is self explanatory, but what those things actually do? How does the car weight effect sliding and crashes in this GTA? I remember in Vice city, when i made a funny scooter which had a weight of a train and it was very funny to crash at cars and send them flying :D

  • @Cyron43 Wondering what?

  • @Jitnaught I'm asking how manual gear shifting can be implemented if the shifting behavior is hardcoded..

  • MODERATOR

    @Radagast-75
    It's possible via scripting but not via files, if you're wondering about that. I've made a simple automatic gearbox.

    @Cyron43
    Wonder? Changing the parameters via the files isn't possible and I haven't found which parameters R* uses for shifting, but it's likely hardcoded and not configurable. What I did was just disable the R* shifting and throw in my own code.

  • @ikt Thanks for the explanation.
    @Jitnaught and ikt: I have the feeling the term "I wonder" sounds kind of negative for native English speakers. I am sorry if that's the case. I am German and when we say "I wonder" it just means "I don't know. Please explain".
