Can someone Help me please? .Ymap

  • Hi, I used CodeWalker 3d to edit a prop and I saved as .ymap and now how can I install in the game? How can I load a .ymap file?

    Put the altered ymap in the same location where you edited it at, maybe?! And always do it in mods.

  • I did it, but when I'm playing the prop does not appear I put in the mods folder and the original folder too.

    You'll need to be a bit more specific. Some props are situational, and can only be shown/spawn at certain locations (or when used in your own addon props). What are you trying to edit where?

    Also, don't edit in original files. Nothing is gained by doing so: if you edit in mods, that will always take precendence. Period.

    And also, be careful you are editing in the proper ymap. Some are defined double, as it were (or, rather, some patchday ymaps tend to supersede the older ones; so be sure to get the right one).

    I'm trying to edit a building on the water, but I also tried the map on the ground and did not appear, the name of the prop is: apa_ss1_11_strm_0

    Without even looking it up, I can tell you, with certainty, that apa_ss1_11_strm_0 is not a prop name, but the name of a ymap.

  • @meimeiriver Ok I'm sorry I'm new at this, so how can I load a .ymap file?

  • @meimeiriver Look https://ibb.co/e0Wzsx it's a .ymap file how can I load it?

  • @GabrielMagalhães you are supposed to save it with the project window, then if it is an edit of an existing ymap run a mass search through all of the game files using OIV to find that ymap and replace. If it is a new one use the DLC template in here
    https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/mapeditor-2-ymap-converter

  • @Derpy-Canadian OK I'll be a little more specific look: https://ibb.co/jc0gNx but when I save the building as .ymap it does not appear in the game ;\

    Honestly, I think you need to slow down a bit, and start at the beginning. Like what have you been editing then, in the first place, if not a ymap?! And if it was an existing ymap, there's no need to take extra steps to 'load' it, as the game will have already done so.

    Also, no offense, but it seems you hardly know what a ymap is, let alone that you were able to add a prop to it properly.

    So, again, let's start from the start. :) CodeWalker can be a bit daunting, at first, so my guess is that you selected an object somewhere, saw the apa_ss1_11_strm_0 name, and mistook that for the prop name. So, is apa_ss1_11_strm_0 the ymap you tried to edit? Just explain, please, what you were trying to accomplish, from the first moment you got the idea to edit a map.

  • @meimeiriver I edited a map using map editor as you can see: https://ibb.co/jc0gNx and I used coldewalker just to copy a building to that map and saved it in .ymap format and installed it in the game but when I go to the local building It is not there, sorry I was not specific.

    For future reference, identifying an object in CodeWalker is usually best done via the 'Selection' tab, like flats

    In this case, it will tell you the prop name is apa_ss1_11_flats, and that it comes from apa_ss1_11_strm_0.ymap. So, if you copied the full entry for apa_ss1_11_flats to a new/another map, you can do the same for the flat on the other map, and it will tell you what ymap it belongs to.

    Also, just saving the ymap is a not enough. Typically, you need to restart the game for the changes to take effect.

  • @meimeiriver Well I did what you said and now saved as .cwproj Oo

  • @meimeiriver Thank you for your attention but I really do not know why the map does not appear and I've tried everything

    You can certainly save as Project; but you can also save the ymap directly, see: save directly (as)

    There's a small quirk (not a bug per se) in CodeWalker, which causes the Project window to remain empty when you open it and already have the object selected. Just switch selecting to another object first, then return to the original.

    Go to the 'ymap' tab in the Project Window if you want the ymap in question added to your whole project, like adding ymap to project

  • This post is deleted!

  • takes a deep breath Right, it is not spawning because those props are all from custom props? would I be right? if so that is probably why. It seems to hate ymaps

  • @Derpy-Canadian it's a normal .ymap from the game but when I play the game the building
    It is not there

  • @GabrielMagalhães maybe search for the ymap as I said with OpenIV and if there are multiple, for example one in x64a and one in update.rpf hmm I wonder which one to replace? update.rpf :)

    So, you found the ymap then?! Was it apa_ss1_11_strm_0.ymap? If so, please show us the ymap entry for the newly added object.

    Also, adding an object to the 'flats' ymap in question, to be placed over water, is almost guaranteed fail, as the water location will assuredly lie outside the streaming/extents range of said ymap, which are set at

    <streamingExtentsMin x="-950.48590000" y="173.68590000" z="-63.61330000"/>
    <streamingExtentsMax x="-442.39060000" y="490.17660000" z="339.61300000"/>
    <entitiesExtentsMin x="-855.21390000" y="292.08450000" z="60.73756000"/>
    <entitiesExtentsMax x="-541.07770000" y="377.91290000" z="233.69860000"/>

    Anything outside of range will remain invisible.

  • @meimeiriver Yes it's a ymap file called apa_ss1_11_strm_0.ymap when I saved it as .ymap at the game the building doesnt not appear Look the Map Location: https://imgur.com/a/PlPPi I put this file in the game but doesnt appear ;\

    Ay, there's the rub! You can't just drop a ymap somewhere, and expect it to work. If you hadn't done so already, you will need to set up the CustomMaps DLC first. Then use the sample ymap therein to add your first entry.

  • @meimeiriver Ok and How can I do it? Is there a tutorial explaining this?
    I really want to learn
