Fix broken/buggy mods



  • At one point, my game had no crashes what so ever, even when pushing it to the limits. But now I have a few, nothing too annoying but I have some cars/bikes (that I really don't want to uninstall) that cause crashes or errors. My question is, is there any way to fix those certain mods? Removing them is an option but it's a handful of them and some are actually my favorites.

  • @westcoastsosa Did they come without tuning kits? If so, go to vehiclemodelsets, find vehicles in question, and change modkits = 0 to modkits = -1 Note: there may be several entries, so search for vehicle from top to bottom.

  • @Southsde04 I scored a major find very recently - scores of files we never had access to before. In addition I am working on 2k grass, working on new concrete textures for sidewalks, new brick mosaics. I just discovered yesterday that it is now possible to increase ped densities to insane limits never seen before - see here -



  • @eshenk No wonder there are serious lags. I don't need to tell you about memory issues. I know you have great knowledge about that but I don't get why so many people cram a ton of addons, 4K texture replacements and whatnot in their game and then come complaining their game lags or even crashes.



  • @Cyron43 You must be talking about someone else, LOL. I don't have those issues, and I have pushed boundaries to uber-insane limits I have never felt possible. Maybe one day I will show you a video of my most recent levels of traffic densities I have been able to achieve. Ped densities as seen in video above will soon be a thing!

  • @Southsde04 That was a test demo just for south venice beach - I was handed over the files which include custom animations. I am going over it with codewalker, and trying to do the same for the other scenario regions but this will take a good bit of time to do. There is actually a lot more going on than just this.

    I am the "author" of the video and the corresponding population density edits - as well as numerous other edits, in varying fields, spanning AI to Vfx.

    Nothing in that video is even remotely close to a public release yet.

    I still want to thank Eshenk for all his hard work and for spreading the word.

    He said his cars/bike had been working perfectly before: so, they don't just lose their modkit.

    Far more likely is, that, through various game updates, the car ID's of those cars/bikes now conflict with what the updates added.

    @westcoastsosa You're not going to like this part, but best take ALL your addon car-ID's, and subsequently renumber them. Like I renamed all my 40 or so addon cars, giving them all ID's starting at 800 and upward (but below 1023, of course). Doing so is a bitch, for sure; but now that we have the ability to use 1024 car ID's, it's high time to clean up your addon cars. :)

    Other possibilties include misconfigurations. Especially errors in vehiclelayout.meta can cause an immediate crash when trying to enter the car (you don't immediately notice modkit errors, btw, in that nothing crashes, until you try to upgrade).
