Game Exited Unexpectedly...

  • I'm not crashing and I cant say my mods have stopped working because it says I sign into social club, then get this game exited unexpectedly message and a choice to try safe mode.Safe mode wont start either.I did install the latest script hook and the asi loader? Still doing the same thing.
Is this fixable or is it game over? I havent played in a few months so there is nothing i added except the new script hook because of the update.

  • I signed up for pastebin so I'm getting those logs together.I'm using the Rockstar Social Club version, not the steam version. If there's a version number that would help could you tell me where to find that?
Since you suggested mods can become outdated I think i'll uninstall all of them and see if it works, then put them back one at a time to see if theres a culprit. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • @jehu58 1. If you reply to me then please start your message with @Cyron43 or I don't get a notification. It was pure coincidence I found your reply.

    1. Also you look if there are updated versions.

  • @Cyron43 ,Thanks, here is my logs and a copy of my game folder. The script hook folder has a current game version number if that helps.
    https://pastebin.com/u/Jehu58

Well it doesn't let me make a pastebin folder of my games folder.TThanks for putting up with me.I do appreciate your help and patience.

Well it doesn't let me make a pastebin folder of my games folder.

Huh? What? There is no such thing as a script hook folder! And since when do folders have a version number? I have never seen anything like that! And lastly, what is a pastebin folder of your games folder supposed to be?

    • I have no clue what the eff you're talking about.
    • Menyoo is outdated.
    • Idk if EnableMPCars is also outdated. The log doesn't reveal a version number. Look for yourself as I told you!
    • Are you running a pirated game?
    • What about OpenIV mods? Any cars,, modified gameconfig (which one?), retextures, weapons or something?

  • @Cyron43
Spawn MP Vehicles in SP is still version 1.2 and still works fine according to the moderators 👍
"Moderator note to users: This still works on the latest update as of this writing (1.0.1290.1 Doomsday Update)."

  • @Cyron43 sorry for calling script hook a folder instead of a file. Also I meant that file having a version number in it as I wasnt sure where to find the version number. No I'm not running a pirated version, unfortunately i paid retail price for the game and just want to play offline but keep getting updates for online stuff.
A pastebin folder, again, file may be a better term,of my games folder i thought might be helpful so I tried to make one.I figured you knew what my games folder is if you saw it,but it didnt work. Its the folder with everything gta in it.
Thanks for pointing out Menyoo being outdated,I will search for the latest.

Dude! This probably one of the worst topics made! There are a zillion reasons why GTA V can exit unexpectedly. Whether 'this is fixable' depends entirely on your own willingness to investigate and communicate.

For starters, you need to update both ScriptHookV AND ScriptHookVDotNet. And if you update these, without updating your Trainers, for instance, like Menyoo, you're still hosing your own system.

And you may need Dilapidated's gameconfig. But first things first: make sure everything you had installed is current.

In other words, your game is crashing.

  • @meimeiriver ,I titled this topic exactly what the game screen says is the reason for the game not starting. How can that be one of the worst topics made? There may be a zillion reasons why but I don't know them and trying to relate and communicate my problem,I thought stating what the screen says im stuck on,"game exited unexpectedly",was exactly what needed to be said. Those werent my choice of words,it was the game. Also, sorry for not saying my game crashed because I didn't think that was a crash,I thought getting stuck like that was called froze.
I'm trying to fix this is best I can and follow the advice given.
I thought stating what the screen says and then explaining what happened was what i should do.

"This probably one of the worst topics made" ,is not correct english but I wouldnt say to you "this is probably one of the worst sentences i've ever read",because I understand what you mean. What should I have made the topic that wouldve been better?
I'm not trying to be combative with you or anyone else ,Im seriously trying to fix my problem and I dont know how to make the topic any better than i tried.

  • @jehu58 Well....the guy is right, when you begin with "I'm not crashing and I cant say my mods have stopped working". Your issue definitely has a solution. The issue is that you have provided so little info.

1.) How long has GTAV been installed on your PC?

    2.) Steam, Retail, or cracked?

3.) Did you add ANY mods before this issue became a thing?

    4.) PC specs?

5.) Need a screenshot of the contents of your game folder.

6.) Are you using a mods folder? If not, this could cause a need for a full reinstall.

There's a reason we have this How to ask for help and support topic.

Also, instead of being so defensive, your time would be better spent, methinks, taking firm troubleshooting steps. Just throwing your hands up in the air, when the game crashes, saying 'There may be a zillion reasons why but I don't know them,' is pointless. For one -- which should be glaringly obvious -- we don't know the reason either. At least not without further info on the steps you took to troubleshoot the matter (ironically, executing those steps, in order to tell us, is usually what solves the matter already).

So, just do as I suggested; don't just panic, but be systematic: ensure your entire install is 'current' (including all trainers). Then check the various logs for anything obvious. If none of that yields any results, try different gameconfigs. Peeps generally have good experience with with Dilapidated's one. If that does nothing, try and disable your mods (first all of them, by renaming the script and mods folders, then individually), and then just rename scripts folder, and then only mods, and then individual mods, one by one, In other words, be systematic in narrowing down the cause. Being argumentative about how to ask for help, I assure you, will not get your issue solved.

  • @meimeiriver ,Thanks for the suggestions I'm in the process of doing them all.I'm not panicking or throwing my hands in the air I've been trying the suggested fixes.I did make a pastebin account and copied logs,i'm updating my mods that need them and uninstalling them to try the suggested fixes.I believe this is going to work and I do appreciate the help.

@eshenk ,I thought it was a freeze not a crash is why I said it like I did and I thought my mods may stil work if the game would load,I'm obviously not using the right terminology in thinking it just froze.
1.) GTAV has been on my pc since the first month it went on sale.I reinstalled it approx. 2 years ago when I added an ssd drive.
    2.)Retail from Wal Mart
3.)No I havent added any mods in over 6 months.I haven't played in a few months but everything was working fine for a long time.I think i only have a few mods, like less than 10.
4.) custom build,MSI 970 gaming mb, AMD 8320 8 core cpu, 16 gb ram, nvidia geforce gtx 770, 500gb ide hd and a 250gb ssd drive, corsair cx750m power supply and a corsair water cooler (101 or 1001 i think)
5.) ill get a screenshot of my games folder as quickly as I can.I dont know if I can just hit printscreen or have to install a program called printkey that i have or if i can copy and paste and use pastebin to post but i'll get right to that.
6.) Yes I've used a mods folder since the first mod i installed.

  • @jehu58 I dont understand your computer freze or only game
    Computer freze=powersupply
Your GTA freze bug in game or cracked but i never see this before this is very interesed i read Long time ago skidrow have problems like yours meaby try find this in uncle google or try reinstal GTA wichout mods And add one mod And check Work or not

  • @szatanowygosciu ,My computer doesnt freeze. What was happening was I start the game and it signs me into the social club then a screen pops up and says "game exited unexpectedly", and it gives you a choice to restart or use safe mode but safe mode doesnt work.
I've been told this is my game crashing.I had hopes that when the game started my mods would still work so I wasnt seeing it as my mods stopped working if my mods didnt get the chance to start.I'm not the expert on this and now I understand that a mod was the problem and thats why the game would not start.
I thought the game loaded and then addressed mods but thats not the way it works. Uninstalling all the mods worked so now I am putting them back one at a time to find the culprit.

  • @meimeiriver and @eshenk ,Thanks for the help, uninstalling the mods solved the problem now I'm putting them back one by one to find the problem.I appreciate the suggestions and your time,it worked.
@Cyron43 ,Huh? What? There is no such thing as a script hook folder!
"You've never seen anything like that and you dont know what the eff I'm talking about".

Well Cyron, When I download scripthook , I get a scripthook folder. When you download scripthook, what do your scripthook files come in?

, saying 'There may be a zillion reasons why but I don't know them,' is pointless. For one -- which should be glaringly obvious -- we don't know the reason either.

As seen above "there may be a zillion reasons", were your words. I said that may be so,but I dont know them. Because I dont know them is why I titled my post with the error message on my screen.
You said this is probably one of the worst topics made. So,

I'll ask again, please tell me what you would've titled this topic ,that is better than the error message on my screen?

Again, thanks for your time and suggestions,I appreciate the help, just not the criticism.

Apparently you don't know the difference between ScriptHookV and ScriptHookVDotNet. ScriptHookV is for script mods written in C++. They have that .asi file extension. They belong in the root installation folder of GTA V.
ScriptHookVDotNet is for script mods written in C# (say C sharp) or VB. They have that .dll file extension (or if not compiled also .cs or .vb) and belong in the scripts folder. But beware, not all .dll files belong in the scripts folder! The dinput8.dll, for example, is not a .net script or a library for .net script mods and so it belongs in the root installation folder. It's always a good idea to read the installation instructions!
I hope now you understand why your reply about the scripthook folder was plain... well I guess I should stay polite.

  • @Cyron43 .No I dont know the difference between the two scripthook downloads other than their names. But I do know you said there's no such thing as a scripthook folder, and I do know when I unzip the scripthookv download I have a folder on my desktop titled scripthook!
You say theres no such thing,I've got proof there is,so I guess you should stay polite.

  • MODERATOR

@jehu58 bruh lol when you unzip it, it puts the files in a folder called script hook. you put the files in that into your directory

  • @jehu58 Oh boy! smh
Fortunate are those who can read. Look dude, there's a readme in that download and surprise surprise, it has an installation instruction! Excerpt:
    Installation:

    1. Copy ScriptHookV.dll to the game's main folder, i.e. where GTA5.exe
      is located.
    2. In order to load asi plugins you need to have asi loader installed,
you can download it separately or use the latest version that comes
      with this distrib (dinput8.dll).
You must delete old dsound.dll asiloader if you have one installed.
    3. This distrib also includes a sample asi plugin - native trainer,
if you need a trainer then copy NativeTrainer.asi as well.

So you can keep your attitude of a Mr. KnowItAllBetter or you can take our advise. You are the n00b who asked for help! I'm done here!

Sometimes I wish upvoting could be done with +10 points!

This is becoming a hilarious thread, though. :) The man doesn't know the difference between ScriptHookV and ScriptHookVDotNet, and yet dishes it out like we don't know what we're talking about! :P Grabbing my popcorn.

What can I say? The fool persists in his folly.

  • You high and mighty are a joke.I dont need to know the c++ crap or the difference between the folders because I'm not even using the scripthook.net .And I dont need the readme for my scripthook becasuse its installed fine. This thread is a joke.Cyron you should learn to comprehend what you read becuse why the eff are you giving instructions to install scripthook you genius? You still never came up with a better title for a topic either because you can't.
Funny you guys get smart mouthed and go off subject instead of admitting you're wrong.Even one of youre own made reference to a scripthook folder which you say theres no such thing. And insulting the topic title is ridiculous when it was titled the error message on the screen.
Cyron you were done helping a long time ago with your smart mouth. You've been proven wrong and still trying to sound like you know what you're talking about.
yeah,i'm the noob that solved the issue and youre the genius that is printing scripthook installation instructions.Always a smart mouth comment and then something irrelevant like c++ or installation instructions.Yeah youre done, lmao.
Asking me if I know the difference when you claim theres no such thing as a scripthook folder,omg.hahahahhahah.
This thread should be closed before you attempt any more.....its called "advice" not "take our advise".What in Gods name are you talking about installing scripthook for? Yes fortunate are those whocan read, even more fortunate are those who can comprehend.

  • @jehu58 First of all, I hope your issue is resolved now, and you can enjoy your game just like the earlier of times.
Secondly, I know it's none of my business, but after reading an entire thread, I just thought to point this thing out, dude, the other guys @Cyron43 @meimeiriver are just trying to help you.!
And you should understand buddy, these people or any other modders around here, they don't get paid for this.

They still take out the time to help people like you, who are unable to play/enjoy the modding side of GTAV. So, I think, if they have helped you solving the issue, just thank them and issue is resolved. :)

Remember, they help people cause they choose to do so, not cause they "HAVE TO"...!!!
