probably a very simple solution.....

  • so I have a fresh install of the Rockstar social club version. I cannot get scripthook to work in game. I have installed all relevant files, everything is where it should be.

I'm obviously missing something really simple.

If anyone could point me in the right direction id be most grateful.

  • @haz2901 What is the reason for you being under the impression we have access to your PC in order to verify your installation?
    https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/13256/how-to-ask-for-help-and-support
Furthermore, I am in this forum for a long time and believe me, every time someone claimed he has done everything right, he did something wrong!

  • first of all, I followed the guide on this very forum to the letter. https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/14693/quick-start-guide-to-modding-grand-theft-auto-v

( I had a pirate version which scripthook worked on, then decided to support the developer ) .

if I knew how to show you my log file do you not think I would have done so?

  • @haz2901 It is really simple, do a web search. "Where do i find the scripthook v log"
Also post a pic of your entire gta v root folder. What do you mean you cannot get scripthook to work in game?

You will have to start using your noggin because we are fresh out of crystal balls.

You wouldn't believe how many people are just too lazy to provide necessary information (or they think we have some magic abilities, idk). So my assumption was wrong this time. My apologies.

    1. When you say "I cannot get scripthook to work in game", what's happening exactly? Is your game crashing? Is any mod crashing? Is any mod just not doing what it's supposed to do (which ones)? Something else?

    2. All of the logs reside in the root installation folder of GTA V.

    • We need the asiloader.log and ScriptHookV.log
    • If you installed mods with OpenIV then also OpenIV.log
    • If you run .net script mods then also ScriptHookVDotNet2.log.

Open those logs with any text editor, mark and copy the whole content, then paste them on pastebin.com and give us the links. Alternatively you can also copy those files in any shared cloud space like a shared OneDrive folder for example.

    1. Additionally it's a good idea to let us see the files listed in your GTA V installation folder and (if you run .net script mods) the contents of your scripts folder. Make screenshots and post them on any publicly available or shared cloud space.

@Cass Sorry mate, it took so long to write my reply that we both interfered.

ok I think ive done this right, however I don't see an openiv.log anywhere?
    0_1527774000102_Untitled.png

im sorry if I came across a bit abrupt. I do appreciate any help provided.

so basically I had a "copied" version of gta, scripthook trainer worked fine with that, however mods didn't, I was led to believe that mods were picky with copies so I bought it.

so now, nothing works with the legitimate version.

  • @haz2901 cant see anything wrong with the logs. Cyron43 may see something.

The only thing i can see is the 'mod enabler' could be the cause

  • im completely puzzled by it, like I say, I haven't done anything different from before.its a puzzle indeed

  • @haz2901 enable mods again. did that solve it?

  • excuse me for being a bit thick, but doesn't openiv enable the mods automatically? I do however have mod manager installed, even with that, it doesn't work

  • @haz2901 OpenlV only modifies game files and enables .asi files.

  • how do I tell it to "enable" mods then?

  • @haz2901 What types of mods? .asi? .dll?

  • scripthook dll

  • @haz2901 If I were you, I would reinstall scripthookv. My guess is that it's probably corrupt.

  • alas I have done that many times

  • @haz2901 Are you using the latest version and how long ago did you get the retail game?

  • @haz2901 double click the highlighted then enable mods

double click the highlighted then enable mods

  • @cass just tried that fella, I click 1 to enable mods, then it says cannot locate bat file. wether I I choose create or launch straight away

  • @car-mod-fan probably 4 days ago mate

  • @haz2901 The logs tell me you have scripthookvdotnet installed but I can't see it in the directory listing. Have you placed that in the scripts folder? That's not where it belongs to! You need to place ScriptHookVDotNet.asi and ScriptHookVDotNet2.dll in the root installation folder.
Also uninstall that mod enabler. To disable certain mods simply rename them by appending .off to the filename (example SomeMod.asi -> SomeMod.asi.off). The same goes for .net script mods in the scripts folder. Just don't do that to helper libraries like NativeUI.dll. After renaming, reset ScriptHookVDotNet (Insert key) in case of .net script mods or restart the game in case of asi mods.
Oh and one more thing! I see you also run AdvancedHook. This one and scripthookV possibly conflict with each other. Get rid of AdvancedHook! If some mod relies on it then look for an updated version which references scripthookV or delete that mod.
EDIT: I see here is some confusion about the term "mod". OpenIV cares for the mods which you have installed with the help of it, like vehicles, texture mods etc, whereas OpenIV has nothing to do with script mods. Script mods are kind of programs which add or change functionality to the game.

  • hi mate, thanks for that advice. Ive deleted the whole thing and i'm downloading a completely fresh install and will start again. lol.

Huh? What's up with you n00bs always reinstalling the whole game in case of a problem? I have never had to do this.

Get rid of that dumb mod enabler. And the Advanced hook nonsense. Also, what's gameconfig doing in your GTA V root? Or NativeUI.dll? And lose LUA.asi too, as it long since doesn't work any more.

Oh yeah! LOL I didn't even see that before. :thumbsup_tone3:
