TEXTURE REPLACEMENTS NOT REGISTERING / REPLACING (SUCH AS DIRT 2K TEXTURES ETC.) & REAL WHEELS.

  • I wanted to use mods for texture replacements like high quality dirt textures and others by authors like @KimEurope , and real wheels , and Bridgestone Tires + Yokohama by @Dread[Z]ero

Although when replacing (to replace) vehshare.ytd I accidentally replaced the one in the main installation directory (same path, but w/o "\mods") . But I also want to replace every "San Andreas" license plates w/ the California plates. I used a vehshare.ytd provided by @KimEurope to a Dropbox link to @maxgonzalez . (In the comments)

Do I have to add to the dlclist.xml ? I just want to use these mods, but they're not even registering properly.

If anyone has a vehshare.ytd replacement for the main directory, please do provide that along w/ some assistance on adding these texture replacements for GTA V (v. 1.0.1365.1)

I have TeamViewer 13 too. Message me on here if you could as well!

  • @ABERRATION
You do NOT need to mess with 'dlclist.xml' if all you are editing is 'vehshare.ytd'.

Did you replace both the 'vehshare.ytd' that you have in your game folder?

    ...\x64e.rpf\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf\vehshare.ytd
    &
    ...\x64w.rpf\dlcpacks\mpbeach\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles\mpbeachvehicles.rpf\vehshare.ytd

If not, they are both the same file (2658KB) so you could use the one you didn't replace to overwrite the one you did & get your game folder files back to vanilla.

Tip: Ctrl+F3 can be used in OpenIV to search for files by name (& also choose, game folder, mods folder or both as the search parameter)

For 'vehshare.ytd' to be guaranteed to work 100% correctly (no weird coloured/miss-matched/missing textures etc) ALL of the 'vehshare.ytd's in your 'mods' folder need to be the same file (containing the same textures).
If you have 2 files with different textures but the textures have the same name your game will have trouble displaying them (the same as what happens if you have 2 vehicle '.ytd's but different textures in them).
Use OpenIV's Ctrl+F3 to search the 'mods' folder for 'vehshare.ytd' (make a backup of the originals, now) & then replace them ALL with the 'vehshare.ytd' of your choice so that they are all the same.

  • @a63nt-5m1th Sadly , yes I replaced the original vehshare.ytd file. Do you think you could maybe explain why when I put texture files in the vehshare.ytd in both my main directory (I won't anymore, because now I'll need the original (for v. 1.0.1365.1)) , yet none of the textures showed up in the game. Every texture was Vanilla.

Although it was like that, I didn't want it that way, I wanted the license plates, and the 2k dirt textures to show up, but they didn't. Do you think maybe you could explain this ???

All information would be highly appreciated. (sorry I'm a noob at modding GTA V)

Are you using a 'mods' folder & have OpenIV's 'OpenIV.ASI' installed?

    OpenIV > 'Tools' Tab > 'ASI Manager' > 'OpenIV.ASI' [Installed] ?

It's just if you are using a 'mods' then it will be the 'vehshare.ytd's in the 'mods' folder that are loaded by the game. NOT the ones in the game folder. Changing them will do nothing, bar maybe break online gaming etc

Also, could you proivide me with the link to the vehshare you wanted to install so I can have a look at it? The dropbox one you mentioned in your first post

  • @a63nt-5m1th Sure: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wphmzl33rrdjn0t/vehshare.ytd?dl=0

I have every ASI tool installed (openCamera, OpenIV, etc.)

That's what I downloaded. And I use a mods folder. Even put the textures/vehshare.ytd from the Dropbox in there too. NOTHING was changed whatsoever... In case you need to know my specs for my computer are:

    NVIDIA GEFORCE 1050Ti 4GB GDDR5
    16GB DDR4 RAM @ 2400Mhz
    Intel i7-7700K (Kaby Lake)

Note: Make appropriate backups before trying any of this:

You could Ctrl+F3 'search everywhere' (game & mods folder) in OpenIV & then search for 'vehshare.ytd' & replace everything you find with your one 'vehshare.ytd' of choice.

Just backup all the .rpf archives that contain 'vehshare.ytd' & then it will be very simple to return to what you had before if anything goes wrong/doesn't do anything etc.

It's just that if you replace ALL of the 'vehshare.ytd' in your game (as per above instructions) the game HAS to be taking the textures from at least one of the 'vehshare.ytd's you have replaced.
If it doesn't work after that then my only conclusion would be that either it HAS made the change to the textures but it is hard to notice ingame or alternatively you somehow live in a alternate Universe to me where the laws of cause & effect no longer apply
The game has to take the textures from somewhere so after that maybe try removing/deleting all of the 'vehshare.ytd's from your game & loading up the game after each deletion to see if you notice a crash/changes ingame etc.
You could also make the change a lot more noticable by replacing textures in a 'vehshare.ytd' (make backups of what is important first) with bright pink/graffiti textures etc (anything, just something hard to miss) & see if you notice it then? I say this as years back I had a similar problem where textures in the vehshare.ytd looked vastly different to the vanilla one but once displayed ingame looked VERY similar which caused me to question whether I had done it right?! I had, I just couldn't really see the change easily.
Anyway, try out a few things & let me know how you get on

Something I just noticed. Do you use EMF (Easy Mod Folder)?
It has a 'vehshare.ytd' in it that will be loaded over ALL of the 'vehshare.ytd's in both your game folder & your 'mods' folder.
    It is located here:

    ...\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\EMF\dlc.rpf\x64\vehshare.rpf\vehshare.ytd

If you do have EMF installed then that^ is the 'vehshare.ytd' you need to edit

Note: There may be other dlc mods other than EMF that contain a 'vehshare.ytd' that is loaded over the game/mods ones to it may be worth doing an OpenIV Ctrl+F3 search for 'vehshare.ytd' & see if you find any extra ones hiding in dlcpack dlc's?

    Additional:
Here is a modded 'vehshare.ytd' I made quickly replacing ALL the textures in it with a grid I made (so there is no copywrite issue).
It will make it VERY easy to see if the replaced 'vehshare.ytd' is having any effect as it will make the game vehicles look like this:
    modded vehshare.ytd test
Test it out by replacing your 'vehshare.ytd's & loading up the game to see if anything changes

  • @a63nt-5m1th Thank you so much, what else do you know man?! :joy:

It worked, and I notice the difference :thumbsup_tone2:

Legit just read through those instructions and followed them! (Didn't modify actual main game .ytd's though)

  • @ABERRATION
Nice, glad you got it working

You'll only have issues with modded 'game folder' files if you play online. They generally won't break your modded game. If possible, you could reinstall the game in another location on your PC & then copy the vanilla files over to your original install to get back to vanilla 'game folder' files there if needed
