Overcast Weather Lightning

  • Is there any possible way for lightning bolts to be striking during overcast weather? I've been fighting over the .xml files for nearly an hour and haven't managed anything :confused:

  • @Morgesan
    It should be as easy as setting:

        <Lightning value="true"/>

    in 'weather.xml' here:

    ...\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5\weather.xml

    You may also need to edit:

    <vfxlightning_intensity_mult>

    in 'w_overcast.xml' to get it to look right (if it's too bright or dull etc at certain times of day/night).

    Other lightning settings (how the lightning strike looks, colour of cloudburst, frequency of strikes etc) can be edited in 'vfxlightningsettings.xml' here:

    ...\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\effects\vfxlightningsettings.xml

    but that is a bit more advanced to edit & I doubt you'll need to do so. I just include it here so you have the full picture.
    Note: Edits to 'vfxlightningsettings.xml' will change the way lightning looks for ALL weathers.

    Let me know how you get on :slight_smile: :thumbsup:

  • @a63nt-5m1th Thank you very much, that was really really helpful!! :smile: I was searching for that "lightning=true" command in the w_overcast.xml :laughing: I surely will let you updated, check out my mods page to be informed :smiley:
