Darker clouds/sky and larger brighter sun - need help
-
Hi guys
During thunderstorm in daytime I find that the clouds/sky is too bright, how can I make clouds or/and sky darker in daytime when thunder?
Also I find my sun to be too small and too easy to see in the sky, I would like a larger and more brighter sun. Anyone have any clue how this can be done?
I appreciate any help.
Have a great weekend

After a few hour's of testing I found the setting for sun size. In update / update.rpf / common / data / timecycle there is files that start with w_ for each weather type. In this files there is two settings for sky_sun_disc_size. This change the size of the sun.
Now I need to find what settings that make the sun brighter so that it become "blinding". Any suggestions?
-
@xxx78 The easiest way to do this is by changing settings in the enbsettings - google enb for GTAV, and there are plenty of settings for this.
-
@eshenk Thanks for your suggestion. At the moment I dont use ENB, it kills my fps sadly, I use too many "script" mods.
I think settings for sun brightness, blurry edges and "blinding" effect is in the timecycle folder posted above.
If no one knows what setting I have to adjust I have to just test it out.

I'll cover just the basics here but hopefully it's enough to get you started
For the most part the 'w_****.xml' timecycle values describe what they do pretty well.
You should be able to figure out a good idea of what a value does just from the name but the best advice is to just play with the numbers & see what you getTip: If you're not sure what something does whack it's values up high/make it bright red etc & you will be hard pushed to miss it in-game
DARKER SKY:
The quickest way to darken the sky is probably lowering this setting:<sky_hdr> 0.1000 2.0000 2.0000 10.0000 10.0000 10.0000 10.0000 10.0000 10.0000 10.0000 2.5000 1.0000 0.2000</sky_hdr>
or lowering these (I've not messed with these but the low value>high value>low value suggests night>day>night. Quick edit & load game will answer
):
<sky_plane_r> 0.0100 0.3000 0.7000 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7000 0.3000 0.0100</sky_plane_r> <sky_plane_g> 0.0100 0.3000 0.7000 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7000 0.3000 0.0100</sky_plane_g> <sky_plane_b> 0.0100 0.3000 0.7000 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7100 0.7000 0.3000 0.0100</sky_plane_b> <sky_plane_inten> 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000</sky_plane_inten>
but to have complete control over the resultant look you may have to tweak (lower to darken) the rgb values here also (for whatever time of day (13 values, 0 5 6 ... 21 22 etc) you are having issue with):

These values above control the colour/brightness of different areas of the sky. It will all be about how you blend them into each other but don't worry too much about that as the game gives you plenty freedom to play with. Perhaps start by lowering the '_col_inten>' values to zero or something. See what you get.
DARKER CLOUDS:
It's a similar process for the clouds. Start by lowering:<sky_cloud_hdr> 0.0120 2.0000 4.0000 20.0000 22.0000 23.0000 23.0000 23.0000 22.0000 20.0000 4.0000 2.0000 0.0120</sky_cloud_hdr>
& then tweak these values to find the exact look you want:
<sky_cloud_mid_col_r> 0.0200 0.2300 0.4465 0.5501 0.4637 0.4992 0.4992 0.4992 0.4637 0.5501 0.4465 0.2300 0.0200</sky_cloud_mid_col_r> <sky_cloud_mid_col_g> 0.0300 0.2500 0.3888 0.4816 0.5006 0.5006 0.5006 0.5006 0.5006 0.4816 0.3888 0.2500 0.0300</sky_cloud_mid_col_g> <sky_cloud_mid_col_b> 0.0420 0.3000 0.4356 0.3862 0.5116 0.5116 0.5116 0.5116 0.5116 0.3862 0.4356 0.3000 0.0420</sky_cloud_mid_col_b> <sky_cloud_base_col_r> 0.0900 0.1320 0.9900 0.5082 0.4722 0.4472 0.4472 0.4472 0.4722 0.5082 0.9900 0.1320 0.0900</sky_cloud_base_col_r> <sky_cloud_base_col_g> 0.0900 0.1810 0.5000 0.4190 0.4390 0.4390 0.4390 0.4390 0.4390 0.4190 0.5000 0.1810 0.0900</sky_cloud_base_col_g> <sky_cloud_base_col_b> 0.0900 0.2180 0.2400 0.3430 0.4130 0.4330 0.4330 0.4330 0.4130 0.3430 0.2400 0.2180 0.0900</sky_cloud_base_col_b> <sky_small_cloud_col_r> 0.0020 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 0.0020</sky_small_cloud_col_r> <sky_small_cloud_col_g> 0.0020 0.2000 0.3000 0.7800 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 0.7800 0.3000 0.2000 0.0020</sky_small_cloud_col_g> <sky_small_cloud_col_b> 0.0020 0.2000 0.0000 0.6000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 0.6000 0.0000 0.2000 0.0020</sky_small_cloud_col_b>
Note: 'cloudkeyframes.xml' also has influence over the colour/brightness of certain in-game clouds. You may have to play with the values in it as well to get what you want.
BRIGHTER SUN:
Similar thing again. Wack the hdr value up high & tweak colours to suit:<sky_sun_hdr> 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000 255.0000</sky_sun_hdr>
<sky_sun_disc_col_r> 0.0000 1.0259 1.0259 1.0259 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0500 1.0500 0.0001</sky_sun_disc_col_r> <sky_sun_disc_col_g> 0.0000 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 1.0159 0.0001</sky_sun_disc_col_g> <sky_sun_disc_col_b> 0.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 1.0000 0.0001</sky_sun_disc_col_b>
Also play with these values below to lock in your sun look:
<sky_sun_miescatter> 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000 1.3000</sky_sun_miescatter> <sky_sun_mie_intensity_mult> 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000 2.0000</sky_sun_mie_intensity_mult> <sky_sun_influence_radius> 1.0000 10.000 250.0000 500.0000 500.0000 500.0000 500.0000 500.0000 500.0000 500.0000 250.0000 10.000 1.0000</sky_sun_influence_radius> <sky_sun_scatter_inten> 1.0000 1.0000 500.0000 1700.0000 1900.0000 2100.0000 2200.0000 2100.0000 1900.0000 1700.0000 500.0000 1.0000 1.0000</sky_sun_scatter_inten>
Raise those last values for a brighter/stronger/more sun scatter sun effect
Best if you just play around with those last values individually to figure out exactly what they do. That's good advice for any of the values to be honest. As with much of GTA V getting what you want is all about balance. Many settings influence others & it's in their precise combination that perfection (or destruction) exists

@a63nt-5m1th This is fantastic, thanks a lot man. I will test it out when I get back from work.
