Mods are going into the notepad

When ever i download a mod it doesn't become a folder it becomes a note from note pad. Need Help

What are you using the open the archives? Use a program like 7-zip.

@IvEy98 Make sure you have an archiver application installed such as 7-zip or WinRAR. If when you download a file you still see a Notepad icon on the file, right-click the file, click 'Open With', then click 7-zip or WinRAR if it's in the list otherwise click 'Browse for an application' and select 7-zip's or WinRAR's executable file (something like C:\Program Files\7-zip\7zfm.exe or C:\Program Files\WinRAR\winrar.exe).
