Police Brutality Mod - Early Development Thread
Welcome to the Official Police Brutality Mod Thread.
Mod Introduction
Police Brutality is a current Mod I am developing, it's a GTA V Script that will change the vanilla singleplayer experience. This mod will not ruin the Campaign Mode due to bug fixing that should remove any problems you may experience with mod running in Campaign Mode. However, if you happen to experience any problems / bugs during play testing for this Mod (Alpha / Beta) which should be available to the 5Mods Community within the next few months. There is no planned release date for the Alpha versions / Beta versions, this is mainly due to not wanting to keep promises. You will just need to wait until I have announced the release date sometime this year.

Ideology, Police Brutality Mod
This script is heavily inspired from GTA IV Mods that would change the dynamic gameplay between the player and the LSPD. However, I am aware that there is already several mods that add to the LSPD experience. This Mod is designed to allow the player to face different scenarios whilst enjoying freeroaming around Los Santos. There is already many ideas that come to mind when wanting to change the dynamic gameplay of the LSPD. The real reason for implementing this into your GTA V is so you can enjoy a fresh experience without the cops becoming aggressive within the first few seconds you happen to interact with one.
Police Brutality Mod features several scenarios where the player will have to think quickly before they are shot down. Currently, there are three scenarios planned for the Alpha Version. Sometime in the Beta Version there will be an update that releases four more scenarios, and lots of bug fixing. If you are still wondering what else this Mod will add to your GTA V experience; you will need to read the Script Features section further down on this thread.
Police Brutality Mod will allow the player to interact with Los Santos pedestrians on a further level than what you can already do in GTA V Vanilla. Due to some restrictions, I have removed some ideas that were possibly too ambitous. This project may even look very ambitous to begin with, but I assure you that what I have planned is an experience like no other. Although, it may borrow from some other mods in terms of inspiration- I don't feel it will be too similar to other mods of this genre.
Script Features
XP will rewarded for successfully completing several scenarios (Planned Feature)
Scenarios include: Bank Robberies (Pedestrians will interact with each other during a robbery, this does make use of the despawn / respawn code that allows different existing pedestrian AI to take over the current one) However, this is just early development.- Thieves (If you are driving in some areas of Los Santos, you may across a pedestrian chasing another pedestrian. This makes use of the "Angry Pedestrian AI Behavior", it will result in the chased thief jumping into a vehicle and driving away. The thief may or not be persistent as I am still thinking of having the thief despawn to allow smooth performance FPS.
- Car Jacking (Pedestrians may fall victim to another pedestrian who has the "Car Jacking AI", this will cause a situation where the LSPD will be alerted; resulting in a car chase that will end once the vehicle has crashed / destroyed. Persistence is something I would like to experiment with whilst working on this Mod.
- Stabbings (You may face a scenario of a pedestrian walking towards another pedestrian. This will start with simple violence towards each other- resulting in a 15% chance of the victim running on foot. If the pedestrian fights back, the assault will take place with the criminal pulling out a knife as a weapon. This will result in a stabbing, and I plan to make this compatible with the Ambulance Mod that allows the Paramedics to have a small chance of reviving injured pedestrians.
Future Features
- Drowning Others (Something I thought may be too ambitous but I have thought about ways around it. This scenario may or not be included in any of the releases of this mod. The basic premise is that you may encounter witnessing a mad driver who using the "Angry Pedestrian AI". If you happen to see this driver, you will be able to pursuit in a chase as they will always try to drive to the closest river in Los Santos. There will be many bugs with this feature as I am already certain that the AI may crash or get trapped between other pedestrian's vehicles. Anyways, if the player manages to follow all the way through to their location, you will witness the pedestrian using the "AI / Animations from the LSPD who drag injured LSPD members to a safer location" - The difference is that the pedestrian will drag the other pedestrian from their vehicle towards a river.
- Arsonists (Fires are going to much crazier with this mod as your arsenal; they will be more frequent as some pedestrians will be grouped with others to throw molotovs at other pedestrian's vehicles)
- Rioters (If you are very unfortunate... you may witness an angry mob of pedestrians now equipped with weapons. My inital plan was to only allow this to happen if an LSPD team are nearby on patrol. As what would happen is the pedestrians (Rioters) would attack the LSPD resulting in a small war between them, and if the Rioters succeeded in taking down the LSPD nearby in their radius (not sure yet) - They would then have their AI changed to "Angry" towards the player and other pedestrians. Once the LSPD in radius of them is defeated- they would now be rioters equipped with LSPD weaponry. The premise is to kind of create the illusion that the pedestrians stolen the weapons from the unconcious / dead LSPD members. (Might be too ambitous but I plan to create something similar to this)
Possible Features / Removed Features
- Drug Trafficking (This was something I hesitated over due to it being a feature that I felt was needed during early development of planning. However, I have now come to conclusion that I may or may not implement this feature. For those who were curious: Drug Trafficking would be seen by hiding behind a vehicle (crouched), this would cause the pedestrian closest to you to step out of their vehicle and a pedestrian with the "Drug Addict AI" would spawn somewhere nearby too. They would then interact using some existing animations, and from there you would witness drugs transfer. Again, not sure whether I'm going to add this or not. The LSPD would then be alerted and a wild pursuit would take place, this would result in the drug trafficer being shot or sometimes may escape on foot. The player can also help the LSPD by stopping the Drug Trafficker from escaping or even running away.
Rapist(This was a very simple feature that has now been removed. It was simply to have a female pedestrian or male pedestrian scream. This would take place in dark corners / alleyways, but due to much thought I have removed the idea. I even had an early build of this but that has also been deleted as I no longer wish to include this in the mod itself) Share your thoughts in the comments if you would like to see this feature return or possibly be developed into its own standable mod?- Murderer (This is a planned feature / scenario that will allow the player to go investigating. It's not going to be fully developed, but it will have enough code to result in the player being able to witness a pedestrian murdering another pedestrian. It would a really low chance of a weapon being used, and a higher chance of the pedestrian using their fists. Although, I did initally have plans to implement an animation from existing animations (possibly) that would allow the pedestrian to strangle another pedestrian. I've now decided that it's going to be more simple and straight forward.
- Lumberjack (Removed due to unknown reasons)
- Psycho Nurse (Planned but may be removed, it was going to add immersive gameplay that would change once you have died. If the player dies, there is a very small chance of a Psyco Nurse spawning who will hunt you down using a Paramedic Vehicle, and you will only know this due to the fact that there is a different sound playing from the vehicle's sirens. It's a broken siren sound, but this was simply going to be similar to IT Follows / Stalker Mod. I have no idea whether I want to add this now or remove it completely? Let me know your thoughts below.
(In addition to everything you now know; there were actually another five scenarios planned for the Full Release in the future. However, only one of them managed to stay above the rest. Every other planned feature was later removed due to reasons / unknown reasons)
NOTE
Police Brutality Mod is supposed to add new scenarios to Los Santos. However, there has been much debate with myself whether I was going to include all of them in this thread.AI Police Brutality
AI Police Brutality are several AIs designed to change the way the LSPD interact with pedestrians. They will be less prone to chasing the player for doing simple actions like "walk by an officer", but this is just changing the aggrivation levels. What I should also mention is that there is heavy features such as: LSPD will now use their fists rather than their weapons. Some LSPD members will drop their weapon if the player is holding these weapons facing them: RPG, SHOTGUN, FIREWORK LAUNCHER. (More planned in release) -
You will also be able to take higher ground with the LSPD if you happen to have managed to have found a Lumberjack in the Los Santos forests / other locations.
Lumberjacks will reward you with XP / Money for being able to supply them with intel.Out Of The Box
The player will be able to jump right into this fresh experience. You will more than likely only witness the more common scenarios but I do plan to add a configuration file that will allow you to change some of the settings / scenario chances of happening. I don't have any plans to change anything as of yet. But I do have plans to remove some features. Please also take note that I don't wish to add too much to this mod once I am happy with the first release / version.
Road-Map
Progress Base:
XP & Money System (50%)
Scenarios AI (5%) I'm still working on this due to mostly being pulled between whether I should or should not.
LSPD AI (35%) I've started more work on this as the main focus is to change the LSPD behavior / AIScenarios:
Thieves (25%) Currently, I would actually say it was more of a 20% but I feel 25% does match up to the progress made.
Car Jacking (75%) This was easier to do than I first thought, I've mostly got inspiration from those who have already developed mods around pedestrians interacting with vehicles. However, I've not managed to complete the AI / Police Alerts / LSPD chasing the specific vehicle stolen.
Stabbings (0%) Not going to start this until I have managed to complete the LSPD AI changes.Final Note
There is a chance that this Mod may be changed from "Script" to something that is more like "MISC", I will change it if the mod becomes too large compiled with too many features. I'll be sure to keep on top of this whilst development continues.
RELEASE
2018-2019 (I've decided that if this mod becomes too ambitous, I will push the release date to something closer to next year. However, I may change the release date to sometime this year if everything goes smoothly as planned).

This is not actually my first mod developed for GTA V, I used to make mods for GTA IV & a few GTA V mods with a friend from highschool. I no longer have access to the account as he has now taken complete control of that and of it's projects. Due to his words; I must stay a true friend and not reveal any of his future projects / older projects as he does not wish to share them with the public through my words. He will only allow a small amount of Beta Testers to see his projects / older projects.
However, this is currently the largest mod / script that I am willing to work on. It's a very ambitous project (hopefully not too ambitous), but I'm sure you can see that there is a whole lot of love and effort going into making this a reality. I don't ask for anyone to donate anything to me as I'm doing this because I love making things. I'm a Modder at heart, but mostly I am a very amitous man who just wants to get his creativity flowing again.
Any ideas or suggestions are always welcome, and if you have any modpacks / mods you would like this to intergate with / compatability (please let me know as I would love to make this mod available to other modders / modpacks out there)

@IAmJFry Thank you for the kind words. I'll be sure to keep that in mind, as of right now I don't think I will ask of anyone to help me. However, would you mind elbaorating on what you would like to help me with? As for the other kindness you showed: Yes, I would love to accept you as a Beta Tester in the future. Prior to the release, I hope you enjoy the upcoming updates to this thread. I may reveal images, short videos in the future to display the work that I have managed to complete so far... don't hold your hopes up as I am not keeping promises for any release dates / video releases / image releases. So, I hope you can understand that. Anyways, I'd love to know more about what you'd like to help me with.
P.S - Yes, Police Brutality Mod has a specific aim to bring some more immersion to the singleplayer experience. I know how many can get bored after always being the one event that can trigger police chases and sometimes a rare (LSPD on pursuit with a random angry pedestrian) It ends far too quickly, and these events are just seen as bland. So, my aim is to bring an experience like no other. It's going to be awesome once I have everything to a stable state.

I only have about 9 months or so of programming experience but I have projects of my own that I've done and can show you to give you an idea. Okay, Starting With The Positives
I've been extremely busy working on the AI, I've been more focused on making sure everything runs smoothly. Good news is that the script is now better in performance. I've solved the problem with the pedestrians retaliating when the player presses the key "J" - This was because I left some code that was for testing purposes. With this now solved, I can move onto adding the code that I've been wanting to add since the beginning. Long story short, I was sleep deprived, this explains why I never noticed the simple mistake. Moving on, I now have the Stabbing event working, although it is slightly buggy. Sometimes the knife will drop, which is annoying but I'm working on a very quick fix. There was also another problem where pedestrians would target only those with weapons. I didn't quite understand why this happened at first, but then I looked into it with my eyes wide open; I've now solved that problem too.
Tomorrow, I'm going to start working on the stabbing AI (I was thinking of creating a new model, but I've decided against that) - Okay, sometime tomorrow I will update you on the changes. I'm currently working with a friend on her project, but I'm not sure if she wants to share that with the 5Mods Community just yet. I'll be sure to keep you all up to date on her project once she allows me to. If not, I think she will just create her own 5Mods Account. That's all for today! Thanks again for all the support!

Today, I've been busy with problems that got in the way of development time. So, to make up for this lost time, I'm going to begin development earlier tomorrow. Here is some information that should explain things better: I've started work on the stabbing AI (this was not too difficult as I had already created a base for testing this), I used a different build. Okay, "sometime tomorrow" turned into more of a "someday..." I'm sorry for getting your hopes up. As previously said, I've not had much time to work on this recently. An update on the mod will be posted on this thread sometime this month, that is my plan. By update, I do not mean a message like this... I'm talking about a comment that will have lots of information, possible images, and just to allow you all to see how I'm doing, keep track of my progress- I'll be uploading my files to a GitHub. This is not for public use, I'm going to select those who wish to follow me on this Road Path. That's all for now, but I hope to update you soon! Thanks again for all the support! (I'm sorry for the lack of posts, I hope this makes up for it)

Anyway, it sounds like you have created something amazing! I was going to mention how fun it was just playing around with a (stabbing ai) but I never considered that there would be other scripters out there who too want to see that in-game. It's awesome to see that you have been inspired, motivated, and overall it's great to know that you are having fun with the (stabbing ai) tests. Also, your version may not be a serious mod, but maybe you should make it into a mod? I think it would be great to have the stabbing ai as a standalone mod. It could just be a side-mod, add it into game and that event happens, it keeps things interesting. I don't know, it's up to you. I think it would be cool to see your (stabbing ai) though. Hopefully you see my message, if not... I'm sorry for responding too late.

LSPD AI is something that I've titled it as. Before I begin scripting, I usually label things. It's just so I know what I'm working on. In answer to your question, LSPD peds only? Well, I'll see how it goes, and if it works out- I might expand. Changing the s_m_y_cop_01's pedtype to something like SWAT is the easiest way to create the behavior that I had mentioned in the OP. However, I think it's safe to say that I did go with this solution to create the new cop's behavior. My previous attempts worked, but it was way too buggy. So, I ended up removing it from the files. And going with the easier way to create this, I can see that it's worked out for the better. I know it might a lazy solution, but it works.
I can create the LSPD Cops into pedtype SWAT, but why do you want this?
My idea was to do exactly that, but I don't want to end up removing the LSPD Cops. Although, the SWAT is great! I just can't imagine the balancing issues. So, I'm going to play it safe, experiment a little.

LSSD is something I've actually been playing around with. I found that changing their behavior was interesting, but I got a little too ambitious, and long story short... it ended up breaking the mod. That's not to say that it was what I implemented, as I feel it was just me experimenting to see what works and what does not. So, that explains the LSSD.Military was a very interesting one! Unfortunately, I haven't spent too much time on this- as I would have liked to. I was too focused on the LSPD, but I guess I could try it again sometime in the future. Or... maybe I'll just see what works later in development.
FIB - Haha, I've got some crazy ideas for this one. I even started an early version of a different mod I created by accident. Yeah, it was too different from the Police Brutality Mod, but that's another story for another time... Anyway, I'm actually thinking of the FIB as of writing this. So, maybe you will see that upon release! Any other suggestions? I look forward to any further suggestions or ideas you may have for this mod.

i have some suggestions:Since the only vanilla FIB Agents come in 4 stars or higher in FIB Buffalos (atleast in my game)
So what about, you add special FIB peds? Like maybe snipers?
And now for Military and maybe Private Security:
For like i wonder... What about when you attack merryweather, they will call for reinforcements?
So create a small script that when you go to a zone that is populated by merryweather and you shoot everything up, they call for reinforcements.And for military, well there tactics are laughable, maybe make them like this?
Military Officers and Guards:
Acts as the default army
Combat Marines:
They have the tactics as a SWAT Officer. (Maybe edit combatbehaviours.meta for this?)

Starting with your first suggestion: I really like the FIB Agents, and I actually wanted to use them (well, work with them) Yes, I think adding special FIB peds would be interesting. I'd like to know more on why you feel I should add special FIB peds? Just curious @GTAModder10

Moving onwards, I really like the idea of if you attack merryweather, they will call for reinforcements. It's funny because I was testing something similar to this, but it was more of an assigning an Officer Ped having a small chance to be a higher recruit. Then if the player shot around this Ped- it would cause an ambush of cops heading towards you. I know it might not be exactly the same towards your suggestion, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway. I'll look into your suggestion, test it a few times to see if it works with the mod's theme. Thank you!

Haha, the military tactics are more than laughable. Okay, so add them into their own groups? I like the idea of that (hopefully I've understood your suggestion). I'll work on the Combat Marines sometime this month, but I really love these suggestions!
Please share more suggestions @GTAModder10 & anyone else who has read this thread and would like to contribute towards this Mod's creation. I need more suggestions as it really motivates me, and can even make the Mod turn out better than if I was to use my own ideas.

I think you could add armored up FIB agents in a reskined riot van, they have the same tactics as a NOOSE Officer, but they have 300 Health and 50 Armor. They should only occur in 5 stars or if you attack the FIB Building.
- Now to the reinforcements, you could simply make a small script to tell the player for example, if they attacked a small street gang. There is only a 2% chance they call in reinforcements instead you get a wanted level, you get a wave of gangs.
For private security, there is mostly 50% chance they call in reinforcements.
You could also make it so we can customize the reinforcement spawns, and define which ped when attacked calls for reinforcements.

Ok wow, that's definitely a relevant real-world problem that could and should be in GTAV. LOL, ok but if you're going to do it.....please consider adding protesters & especially having them at key locations and also blocking highways--to get the full effect of it... lol.

I try my absolute best to reply to the many suggestions/posts that I receive on this thread. Well, currently I am in the works of testing the previous suggestion. I've decided to put that as a minor focus, but it became a major focus as I got to see how this would actually fit into the Mod's theme. After reading your suggestion, I can also say that you have delivered an interesting concept. I really like the idea of a relevant real-world problem related to protesters & having them at key locations.
Quick Update
*I've actually tested something similar to protesters but it was more related to early development of Rioters. This was great to see, as I tried to make it more realistic. Here is what happened: I had a type of Ped who would become a Rioter- who would then influence other Peds around the area based on a % system. It would call for a random number, and if it happened- we would see the pedestrians group together. Although, it wasn't perfect, and I feel it was still very unstable in terms of executed well. I was pleased to see how a group coming together looks good in GTA V. This wasn't really much of a surprise as I have always enjoyed a Gang or the LSPD grouping together to execute their events. I'll be sure to test the protesters idea sometime in the future. * In the meantime... I've got some good news and some bad news!You'll have to wait for tomorrow or whenever I'll be able to spare some more time.

Well I'm no modder so I do not envy how you'll attack all that you want to accomplish with the mod..but I wish you luck.

ChrisIt's by no means an easy feat. I've got so much to tackle alone. Sadly, I've got some bad news for everyone. But I'll write that below my reply to you. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I too look forward to having this mod ready!
