How to move NODES on Key Press

Hey guys, how do you go about moving nodes on key press? For instance, the forklift, how you press "Shift" to go up or you press "CNTRL" to go down. How is that setup? Can you do it all in ZModeler? Do you need to have a second script? Is it possible to change keys, meaning can you set keys from shift and cntrl to 8-9 on the numpad.

Is it possible to write an outside script that checks if your in the car, then on a certain key press, moves certain Bones or "NODES" of that vehicle? Is it even possible to call a specific node of a vehicle by its name in a separate script? I am completely new to this.
