REPLACER-ADDON DLC ISSUE
-
Guys I got a bit of an issue that is VERY confusing...
When you download a vehicle that replaces a vanilla non-DLC vehicle you can easily turn it into an addon by adding the relevant meta data though when it comes to a vehicle that replaces a DLC vehicle, despite repeating the process via adding the relevant meta data, the game will crash.
What's the go with that? Is it impossible to convert DLC replacements into addons?

Anyone? Is this forum even alive?

Hi,
What do you mean with "replaces a DLC vehicle"
You replace vanilla vehicle, OK, but replace a DLC vehicle ... weird thing.

First of all what is dlc and nondlc vehicles? Do you mean vehicles from x64e.rpf as nondlc vehicles? If yes there is no different between replacing vehicles from x64e and vehicles from any dlcpack. Only thing to take care about in x64e is that in this file is many many vehicles and if you replace lot of them with higher resolution models (means models which have more MB) than vanilla ones have, and x64e.rpf would have over 4GB your game would be crashing every time.
But with your description I don't have idea if this was what you was asking for...

Are you guys for real? You don't know what a DLC is? The game comes with vehicles, they are vanilla/base game/standard/non-DLC, vehicles that are added via a title update/patch/pre-order content/microtransaction/store DLC are called DLC vehicles. EXAMPLE- The Taco Van was in GTA V when it launched on the 360 and PS3 versions many years ago so its a standard/non-dlc vehicle. The Deluxo came to GTA V during the next gen Doomsday content update so its a DLC car.
So you can easily download a replacer car from here for instance and if your like me, would rather have it as an addon car so you change it in your game and there it is along with the car it should have replaced according to the author. HOWEVER, if the vehicle replaces a DLC car, say the Kuruma or Contender and you do the process to turn it into an addon car as you do standard non-dlc vehicles, the game will crash on start up.
...I think you guys are trolling. I'm sure more than 90% of modders have turned a replacer car they downloaded into an addon and would know clearly what I am talking about. It is simple and easy, example: some of the restored beater/rust car mods on this site are replacers, I just made them addons in my game so I have both the restored and beater/rusty variants. However if I wanted to turn the Kuruma X mod or SWB Contender replacers into addons, the game will crash. It only seems to work for non-DLC cars. Unless, this is possible and the process is slightly different???

@GTAV-Noob-Modder117 First of all I have close to none addon in the game at the point I'm working on full modded GTA which means I use all addons as replace. Not sure if the nonDLC and DLC name is normally using, but I never heard it - if it is, then I'm sorry and the reason is that I'm working with replacing models not adding.
But you see now I know what's going on when you wrote little more details and can write my recommendations
So first thing to do if I would be you is:
- if you want keep using that program try use model as replace to see if model is not broke as it is
- I would try to make it addon by myself not via third party program, then you would be sure there was no mistake made

Yep tested it. The Kuruma X mod and Contender SWB mod vehicles work when you replace them but if you add the relevant meta files to turn it into an addon instead, the game will crash.
I just don't understand why replacer vehicle mods that replace DLC cars cannot be turned into addon vehicles...

@GTAV-Noob-Modder117 as I told I'm not working much with addons but one last thing what I have on my mind is if you are adding same meta as vanilla car which you are replacing have (when you use it as replace) ? If yes then I have no more ideas what can be problem, except wrong content.xml setup, but if you add another meta files than vanilla vehicle have, try use same meta as vanilla vehicle use.
From my experience some values in metas can easly crash game. For example lowering vehicle to value -0.06 is ok, -0.15 is ok but -0.14 crash game - that mean just really little difference in any value can crash game. I don't know how that program work (I never used it), but if it automaticly add meta files, check it manually by yourself and compare it with vanilla meta if it's the same.

Ok so for the Contender SWB REPLACE mod I used the original Contender META files from the Cunning Stunts RPF. It crashes right? So I guess one thing I never tried was to just simply use META files from the base game RPF.
What is the Contender more close to do you think? Sadler or Bison? I think I might use one of their META files and see what happens...
