[Tutorial] How to do: Add-On / Replace (Vehicles & Weapons)

  • @Reyser I think there is a mistake in your instructions>

    Step 7: Add DATA from replacer cars (if the car you want to put as Add-On didn't have data when you downloaded it, take data from the original game car that it replaces) to "vehicles.meta", "carcols.meta", carvariations.meta" and "handling.meta", which located in "/FOLDERNAME/dlc.rpf/common/data/" editing them with any text editor.

    In your sample folders, there is no common folder, there is /FOLDERNAME/dlc.rpf/data/ is that what Step 7 should say instead?

  • @Reyser Thank you... I just wanted to post back and say that it worked perfectly (with that slight folder alteration). I now have my first replace to addon done.

    Doing them in future won't be quite so scary and now that I know how things work, I might get round to building a tool to automate it... like pulling replace data from handling.meta etc... If I ever get my camera mod finished that is. :D

There are a lot of users who already upload addon vehicles and peds but unfortunately so far I not find yet someone who upload an addon weapon and that's way I decide to read your tutorial!! Your tutorial help me a lot though the step3 is a little bit confused but I think that I take the picture!! I want to ask you if you know a mode that allow me to spawn a weapon by model name!! I already try trainerv https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/simple-trainer-for-gtav winch have the weapon model name but when I type the name and press enter the trainerv even if say that the weapon was spawned my character not take the weapon and I can't find where the weapon was spawned!!

    @Sandra-linson Thanks, and I think that this can be implemented into the Advanced Commands mod. Just ask his author to add commands for each weapon, and maybe with luck this will be a great way to spawn them easily. I like the idea but I don't have any other way to spawn them at the moment.

    For Add-On weapons, I didn't tried (and I can't right now, I'm very busy), but the MG-42 weapon by @metroidguy is an Add-On/replace weapon and works fine in both ways, maybe you can take it as example and try the same with other weapons.

Also thanks for your advice!! Well other people told me that nobody make addon weapon yet and I am afraid that the test result going to be bad but I try it!!dx

    @Sandra-linson Still is not included, is just a suggestion you can tell him to do. But maybe, this option to spawn weapons will be better being included by default on Enhanced Native Trainer mod (Weapons section). A guy called "Zemanez" in GTAForums is working on this trainer and maybe if you request that, he could do it in the future.

    @kizacudo Did you tried to put the Pagani Huayra by Vans123 as Add-On in any of your DLC packs? I tried to put it as Add-On to my game and worked, but when I try to enter into it, my game crash. I don't know if it's because a missing file for it or what, I installed it as any other car mod (with his carcols, carvariations, handling and vehicles.meta data).



  • @Reyser Mmm very interesting!! I also notice that usually the users check the weapons they make or install simply visiting an Ammu Nation Gun Store and actually there is not any trainer who can spawn the weapon!! Also I manage to find someone who make an addon weapon here https://www.gta5-mods.com/weapons/ak-pistol-add-on-dlc and there I learn the trick about Ammu Nation though I was hoping to find an instruction about a trainer to spawn a weapon too!!

    @Sandra-linson Lol that's true, I forgot it completely, visiting Ammu Nation you can find the Add-On weapon easily. Maybe if we knew how an Ammu Nation store spawns them, we can use the method to do it through trainer too.



  • @Reyser Hi mate! I had crash with an add-on car during singleplayer loading.
    Replacing gameconfig.xml with one I found here on GTA5-Mods, the game finally loaded and the car spawns. Thank you very mutch! :)

    @RoyalPredator Glad to see that you got it working :) Anyway, remember to use always the Gameconfig.xml by F7YO, is so much stable and without limit for Add-On's.

    @yeahhmonkey You did 2 mistakes:

    • You forgot to edit files inside "ai" folder.
    • The weapon should have the same name you put as "HATCHET" word in each file in common/data patch. So, if your weapon name is VikingbattleAxe, just use this name to replace each "HATCHET" word located in each file.

    @yeahhmonkey I didn't mentioned "ai" folder in Step 3 because it's already inside "/common/data" patch, but yes needs to be edited too these files.

    actually its possible
    for example ill talk about flamethrower addon mod
    you can spawn it with name weapon_flamethrower
    because it has this name in the data
    if you name your weapon for example weapon_lel123 then you can spawn it with weapon_lel123

    @HeySlickThatsMe It's possible with a trainer that have this function. I can't because I'm using ENT, so I have to buy them in Ammunation.

    Thank you for this tutorial. It is a great assistance.

    I apologize that I am a noob and have such big dreams lol...

    I am trying to make the Fort Zancudo military base a more accurate Marine Corps Air Station. To do this I have replaced the standard in game spawning Lazer with an add-on F-35. The model shows up and the game is stable but the plane is not flyable. I can sit in it but it doesn't move.

    Can you or someone please walk me through what I need to do to make the F-35 flyable?

    Once I know how to do this I will swap other vehicles at the base like the helicopters and the transports replacing them with add-ons.

    Did you put the handling lines for it? Most of the times a vehicle/plane doesn't run is because the game does not find the "handling.meta" lines assigned to it.

    Thank you for your kind reply and assistance. You are of course correct! I have so much to learn. With some great assistance I was able to get the F-35s flying out of Fort Zancudo. Now I have a lot of thinking to do about what to replace next on the base.

    @yeahhmonkey I don't know how to help you right now, I never made one so I can't tell if your weapon can be an Add-On or what's the problem, I'm sorry ;S. Maybe the owner of EMF mod can help you with Add-On weapons.

    @yeahhmonkey A mod that helps to have all Add-On's/Replacer's/OriginalR*Cars in the same folder, letting us to delete the older and unused gta files and get an extra HDD/SSD space. That's what told me GanjaHouse, a friend that saved 30GB using it. Maybe his author can make something for weapons too.



  • @Reyser Hey man, I'm trying to make an addon of this car. I followed every step of your tutorial and got all the carcols, handling, carvariations and vehicles.meta in the right place, but when I try to spawn my game crashes instantly. Do you know what might be causing this?
