Redux , lies and GTA ...
-
Ahhh GTA , the game that glorifies theft , murder , and driving around like an idiot , ironically , some people in it's community are as crooked as the game's characters .
Hope you liked the intro , and let's jump right into it : IS JOSH ROMITO , MAKER OF THE REDUX MOD , STEALING FROM OTHER MOD MAKERS ? MOST NOTABLY CP FROM THE MIGHTY VISUALV MOD ?
I think it's unecessary drama , Romito is a pro con artist , using his overhyped mod to get donations and youtube revenue , i saw it coming ever since Pinnacle V (Always hated the mod , author was spamming us with useless updates) , i think that even if he did what he done , the sucka is untouchable right now , with the media on his side ( He paid some sites to feature his mod ?) and mindless kids worshipping him for his "Creation" , all we can do right now is wait for what CP is gunna do next.
What do you guys think about this ? I know this has been discussed on reddit and in gta forums , but i wanna know what real modders think about this as content creators .
-
Absolute bullshit move. Scummy guy.
He's done it before and he's most likely going to do it again, since he's clearly making a good buck on it.
Or maybe he just likes the attention it brings him.Sadly, not much can be done about this, and it's not like many people outside of the creator circle actually care about it.
People crave mods, but they don't really care about how they get created, or by whom. And although it may be sour sight to see people on forums - much like this one - downloading the mod and requesting help with it, because something went wrong with their installation, I still think it's worth to help them out and resolve their issues. Because at the end of the day, modding is a community thing. And what good would become of this community if we all refused to help eachother out because of internal drama?
Atleast we can be the bigger men and women.

@TavellClinton @GTATerminal Like some people say, any publicity is good publicity.
Even if you, I and many more people hate this mod, we still discuss it here. New users join this forum everyday. They see this and the whole discussion about "Redux" and think "what the hell is Redux? I must check YouTube." Or Google it, see the website, and download it. Even if we hate it, we are still supporting his work indirectly. What I think we should do is avoid discussing about Redux, tell people who post questions on the Forum what a scum Romito is and to delete it. I hope Redux will soon face the same fate of Pinnacle Of V and get removed from the internet.
-
Make Rockstar file a DMCA against that guy.
Pfft, bullying pioneers like NTA, but not taking down scum of the modding scene.
-
@ikt I don't think Rockstar will be bothered to do such a thing. He didn't steal files from Rockstar, he stole them from fellow modders.
-
The only help they should receive is a link to a post detailing all the known stolen content, a link back to the "creator" that they are supposed to go to for support, and maybe some un-install instructions.
-
@glitch Everything is stolen in redux, so making a list of what's stolen...
-
I dunno, after checking few vids of this glorified Redux, I swear, any other graphic improvement mod looks waaaay better that this, and some (like VISUALV) is even have optimization improvement presets, so the game not only looks better but runs better too.
I have no idea why there's so much hype on this mod, 90% of ppl dl it claiming it's total crap. Feels like dude spent helluva lot of cash on advertising it, because announcements are basically on every major gaming site, when some seriously fantastic mods for GTA 5 barely has any mentions anywhere at all, lol.
I wonder who is this guy?
-
@Forrest-Gimp Who is it ? A thief
-
@baba0rum
Very rich and dumb thief must be then...

I've been trying to avoid the forums but I can't ignore that...
So what you're saying, is it's okay to help someone install a mod based on stolen content into a legit version of the game but it's not okay to help someone install a legit mod into a cracked version of a game, that is effectively stolen content?
As a modder who has spent a serious amount of hours on my mod, I find that a very disturbing outlook, because that means that if ever my work gets stolen, are you gong to be happy helping someone else get it working? Or am I missing the point of what you're trying to say?
We're not refusing to help because of "internal drama", we're refusing to help out of respect to those who have had their hard work stolen. If we're just going to say "meh, it's just someone's hard work... who cares, let's help people get it working because it's a community thing" then I have serious concerns about the community. I don't believe everyone has that outlook though... or have I misread people that much?
-
@LeeC2202 Didn't consider that. That's a good comparison that makes me question my original comment.
I was much more focused on being the 'bigger man' and be helpful to separate myself from someone who steals content from others and reuploads it as his own.Of course, if my content were to get stolen and uploaded by someone else then I wouldn't want others to blindly download it, leaving me without credit. But the average Grand Theft Auto player just doesn't care about any of this. They just want to use the mods. So, how about instead of refusing to help them out - because the mod that they want to use contains stolen content - we instead inform them that the mod does infact contain stolen content, and only then do we proceed to assist them with the issues that they are having.
That way we atleast let them know about the lies of the "Developer", and we come across as a friendly and non-toxic community.
-
@GTATerminal And do we take that same approach with people using cracked copies of the game? I ask because I started a thread on that very subject (helping people with cracked copies of the game) and the response I got back was "No" to put it into simple and polite terms.
This is my concern... we can't differentiate just because one is made by a modder and the other by a company. To keep things in parallel with what that thread indicated, I believe we should be telling people "We'll help you to install the original sources of that content, i.e. VisualV, LA Roads etc... and here are the links to those mods, but we won't help you to install that mod because of what it contains.".
I know that if I don't personally take that stance, then I will feel a tad hypocritical after telling people with cracked versions of GTAV that I can't/won't help them. Whatever stance the community takes though, is going to send a very clear message to other modders. It's just a case of is it a good message, or a bad one.
-
VisualV fanboys dissing on Redux.. How funny.
-
@ubtri
Actually, people who know VisualV looks much better and that Redux is nothing but a ripoff of VisualV are discussing how much of a hack Josh Romito is.
-
Sorry, I'm just a little partial to Mod Community Graphics
-
Redux does have usefull files. Like timecyc_mods1.xml gets rid of tint & blur of the weapon wheel & special ability. Combatbehavior.dat makes all police take cover more... the fragment.xml, materalsfx.dat, materials.dat, wheelfx.dat & procedural.dat make a LOT more particals with individual shadows ect ect....
There IS usefull files in REDUX that provide features ive never seen before. Open the OIV, compair values & See for yourself.
No disrespect to CP. Hes the man & deserves to be credited. Just for insparation OR the values themselves.
-
I don't care for this thread because its only gonna become more toxic and negative, and I'm just gonna say this
If you are using a pirated cracked GTAV....PLEASE STFU ABOUT STOLEN MODS!!!
Can't throw bricks from a glass house!
Mod support for cracked GTA seems to be widely accepted around here so don't get all drama queen like when some guy named Josh Romito makes a shitty looking washed out graphics mod from bits and pieces of other shitty looking washed out graphics mods.
Its a GTAV modding community....people wanted that Redux mod...people are playing GTAV with the ugly ass mod right now and loving it regardless of the guys integrity. That's great!
Stealing components of mods and using cracked pirated GTAV software is the norm in this community these days.
Besides the guy not giving out the proper credits to the authors of the chopped up mods he used in his own...who gives a damn.Pinnacle and Redux are both washed out ugly trash to me....but hey someone else loves it and doesn't care how they were created.
Just like people are using cracked GTAV copies and don't care about the piracy and impact it's had on DRM and other crap counter measures us honest PC Title buyers have to deal with behind those copies.
-
The dude packaged everything into one Open.IV pack lol God bless him, even if he is a shit guy who stole everything.
I wish more people didn't give a fish and would package mods together like he has.
He's a fuckin beauty in my books.
-
I noticed it used LA Roads. I'm wondering what water mod he used (looks incredible) and is it really simulated global illumination?
The RDR MP3 euphoria mod is better and the gore improvement mod is better
-
@rastakilla the best thing about his is it's an all in one, people tend to Nott want to do a lot of work. It's an easy way to get the mods. But he should give credit to the original mods. Call it a compilation
-
@House-Rushton an All in One install, that's the best thing. OIV packages need to become the norm. You can even open them up with 7zip. It's essential in my opinion, especially since OIV tends to ignore the folder something is in and post the stuff inside so you have delve deep to replace the right thing in the right directory

I 100% agree with this. And very well explained your point. I would now clearly understand, what and how does it feel, and I feel very sorry to the orignal Author.
As you have pointed it out well, Its not about, if we wish to help other users install that mod or not, but rather it is about giving an earning respect. What GTATerminal said, Normal people they just want the stuff , they don't care from where or how it comes. But my point is, we being modders we know this stuff, we can diffrentiate in whats right and whats not? So. ...
-
so... how about you people do the same thing he did...put everything together into a better, more improved, final & stable version OIV package (someone said that oiv is the standard nowadays) and bring back the market to you !!
at the end of day call it " this is just business, buddy "

"better"
"more improved"
(here's the one that finally got me) "final and stable"Hi, Romito. (If you're not Romito, I apologize. Are you one of the geniuses that gave this "modder" money?)
