[PAINT] [RELEASED/WIP] Osprey Marine Corps liveries

  • MODERATOR

I don't know if anyone is interested but I have almost finished some Marine Corps Osprey skins...

VMM-163 "Ridge Runners" Creepy eyes at the nose hehe... They fly out of MCAS New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

VMM-165 "Blue Knights". Cool checkered tail. They fly out of Miramar MCAS in Southern California.

VMM-161 "White Knights" They have several different tails that I have seen, they also fly out of Miramar.

@SkylineGTRFreak Now bring us a multi-livery Osprey if you're feeling like doing it XD?

  • hey nice work

I finally finished my first USMC skin for the Osprey. It is VMM-163 "Ridgerunners;" I should have it up on the site tomorrow! Here is a look :)

I will be updating the Ridge Runners osprey and making a few more skins, does anyone have a squadron that they want made?

  • MODERATOR

I just felt like sharing... Slow going on the painting in PS6... You might not be able to see it but I can see it hehe....

I am eliminating the white bottom so that it more genuinely reflects a USMC paint scheme, I also fixed the black details on the tail, added some small weathering to the engine casing, redrawing some lines, I still need to remove a lot of white and repaint the white lines around the ports and stuff, after I get the USMC body work done then I will make several tails.

  • @DarthPungz Since when strippers are allowed around military aircraft?
    Nice shots.

Still working on the bottom blending... it has been incredibly frustrating... for some unknown to me reason the back door has become reflective, like shiny paint... it is strange.... also the place on the tail where the door sort of connects to the airframe it just doesn't display the way that it does within photoshop... I think that the image is being stretched around a bend in the model so it has taken lots of revision to work towards a blend and I am not there yet... it is not fun so I haven't been putting time into it haha...

If you open the bigger files by clicking the images below you will see that the bottom is just not good.

  • @DarthPungz You're doing a top job with these. I had a look at the textures of this model a while back, they're a nightmare to work with when they've been uv-packed like that... so kudos to you.

  • MODERATOR

@LeeC2202 Thank you for your kind words :)

I have stopped the reflective thing... it seems I had made like three different layers with different opacity trying to get the coloring correct without painting.... I was being lazy....

I deleted these layers and did a new top layer with paint rather than color overlays and opacity adjustments AND... No more reflection yay!

Here is an updated picture of the bottom and back door... I am feeling good about it. A few small tweeks and I will have the basic USMC and US Navy paint scheme pretty well done. Then I will make two more livery tales so the final livery pack should have 6-7 liveries.

I just uploaded the MV-22B Osprey package :) YAY! Just waiting on admin approval.

I am so thankful to @SkylineGTRFreak for giving me and this model some of his time and effort. I really love the model update, the door, the illuminated rotors, the driver seat adjustment and the removal of the interior reflection and that huge radar cone on the nose. Thank you SkylineGTRFreak!

I put 8 liveries in the package.... So many technical problems... sleep deprivation made things worse.... The rar package was over 100Mb and I had to remove the isolated ytd and yft files... sad... People will need to extract them from the DLC.rpf within the ?add-on method" folder.

I hope everyone enjoys the MV-22B!

  • @DarthPungz just a quick question because I noticed that fault in my addon package: Do you have VDT_Lazer as dashboard type or VDT_Maverick? Cause it should be Maverick, otherwise the gauges are faulty.

  • MODERATOR

@SkylineGTRFreak ugh I am driving and cannot look, I used what ever was in the new ytd file u sent, the last one and the two new ytd, otherwise i only used the old CV-22 download, I only updated the vehicles.meta

  • @DarthPungz okay, nvm xD We'll see later

Updated Ridge Runner skins. Here is a link to the two skin files, you just need to replace the older ones in the YTD:

Fixes: tails, reversed #13, more accurate eyes on the noses.
