Tuning mods

  • Hello, i can't get tuning parts to work.

I have a mods folder inside the root, inside the folder i have a update folder a x64 folder and all the
    x64a.rpf files etc...

I believe that is a correct setup but each time i put the "sultan_mods.rpf" in the x64i.rpf, nothing happens. and when i put it in mods>update>x64>dlcpacks>patchday20ng>dlc.rpf>x64>levels>patchday20ng>vehiclemods

the game starts downloading like 2gb and deletes the sultan_mods.rpf file in the patchday20ng. while the x64i file is still there.

Any help is greatly appreciated, its frustrating me now.

  • @Marmitaa

OpenIV plugins installed like this pic below? ('OpenIV' > 'Tools' tab > 'ASI Manager'):

    OpenIV Plugins

Then double-check that OpenIV has installed 'dinput8.dll' & 'OpenIV.asi' into your 'Grand Theft Auto V' folder.

Your game should NOT be deleting/updating files in your 'mods' folder! That's definitely unusual.

'OpenIV' > 'Ctrl+F3' > 'Search in "mods" folder only' (in dropdown box) > Search for 'sultan_mods.rpf' & replace it in highest patchday you find it in & then try loading game after this & see if it tries to update that 'dlc.rpf' also (if 'sultan_mods.rpf' exists in 'patchday20ng' normally (ie before you placed it there) forget this).

  • @a63nt-5m1th I got that installed, I tried it again and same thing happened, had to download 2gb for changing one car in the mods folder

  • @Marmitaa
I would run check disk on OS & game hard drive (if different). Instructions here.
I'm really not sure what it could be. Check you have the right folders/definitely placing in 'mods' folder structure?

Ever messed around with any folder redirection or symbolic links in Windows?
Replace sultan_mods.rpf in patchday20ng etc then try removing 'dinput8.dll' & 'OpenIV.asi' from your main 'Grand Theft Auto V' folder & start game. Does it load as vanilla? Does it try downloading 2gb file again? etc

  • Yes it does load vanilla without any replaced cars. The mods folder seems to have all the right folder's/files.
I just need to have the rpf files in the mods folder right? i don't need to put them in another folder or something?

  • @Marmitaa
Basically, you copy the same folder structure you have under 'Grand Theft Auto V' folder with the 'mods' folder becoming the new equivelent of the 'Grand Theft Auto V' folder.

    Vanilla (Game Folder) 'update.rpf' example:

    Grand Theft Auto V > 'update' > update.rpf

    Modded ('mods' Folder) 'update.rpf' example:

    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > 'update' > update.rpf

Here are some examples of the correct 'mods' folder structures to keep you right:

    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > 'update' > update.rpf

    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > 'update' > 'x64' > 'dlcpacks' > 'mpapartment' > dlc.rpf

    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > 'x64' > 'audio' > 'sfx' > RESIDENT.rpf etc

    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > common.rpf
    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > x64a.rpf
    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > x64b.rpf
    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > x64c.rpf
    ...
    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > x64u.rpf
    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > x64v.rpf
    Grand Theft Auto V > 'mods' > x64w.rpf

& a picture (it starts top left inside the 'mods' folder). The 'mods' folder sits inside 'Grand Theft Auto V' folder (same place as 'GTA5.exe').

    Mods Folder Install Setup

Make sure your files are set out like that

  • @a63nt-5m1th Thank you SOOOOO MUCH!!! I didn't have the common.rpf, everything works great now! I was about to give up on replacement cars :thumbsup_tone2:, You are amazing.

  • @Marmitaa
Shiny  Glad I could help
