Guide for changing character skins permanently?

Is there a guide to change character skins permanently? If not, can someone give me a rundown? I have Open IV and such. New to it all though.Let us say I wanted to switch the brad and Michael models for the entire playthrough, how would I go about doing this?
I have used things like menyoo and 'character switch' mods to achieve something similar, but it is inelegant and doesn't work in prologue.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Find the files of Brad and replace the files of Michael with Brads.
Note, for cutscenes, you'll need to do the same thing.
Bugs will be present for sure, Brad may be floating or holding a gun or something wrong due to different skeletons.
I won't go into depth with the skeleton as it is hard to understand(well... as I tried to explain to one person..)
