SImple Question about Online Maps in Singleplayer

  • Is it now impossible to load the online map in singleplayer using mods?

None of my old R* editor clips work and I realized this was probably the link between them, then I discovered I cannot use any trainer to load online map without crashing. I've tried every "fix" that I've found online to no avail. Is this some kind of anti-cheat mechanism? I don't even want to play online.

  • I can't see why not. If i use Menyoo/Enahnced Trainer and or Simple Trainer to load online maps it works with no problem, I also use OpenInteriors as well. Let me know if you get it sorted.

  • @H3llo Do you have the steam version at least?

The game crashes no matter the trainer I use. No matter the gameconfig I use, not matter which recommended settings I change. I reinstalled the whole game a couple days ago just to make sure that wasn't the problem.

Older versions of the game had worked fine, then I installed an update, and ever since that update I can't do that anymore. It was somewhere around lo-rider, I think. I even get an infinite load screen if I try to enter Director Mode

  • @futurestoryteller

I don't use the steam version i'm afraid. Ok just some questions to give me some info.

    • Are you using the latest version of GTAV ?
    • Can you post your Scripthook/ASI Loader logs ?
    • Are you by chance using SinglePlayerApartments and or OpenInteriors ?
    • If you have a mod enabling online maps at start up try disabling that option.

  • I appreciate you trying to help, especially since I've pretty much given up, at this point.

    • Are you by chance using SinglePlayerApartments and or OpenInteriors ?

    Nope.

    • If you have a mod enabling online maps at start up try disabling that option.

This is most likely pointless. I only recently enabled it in Simple Trainer so that I could ensure it was working as soon as possible. You can trust me that whether I do, or do not have this option enabled, if I try to access the online map, my game crashes with the same type of error message.

Your trainer is crashing, have you made sure that it's the latest version ? (obviously this could also be it crashing when you're trying to load online maps) I'm gonna have a quick test or two my end and get back to you.

  • @H3llo You could pretty much just assume everything I'm using was downloaded yesterday, and you wouldn't be far off. Considering the same thing happens with menyoo, and that the Rockstar Editor crashes when I access older files, that would be a helluva coincidence

  • @futurestoryteller

Ok this is something on your side. So i just went into my GTA and i enabled online maps through SimpleTrainer and then i went to editor mode and it worked. Shot a clip or two in director mode and could load them flawlessly.

I would consider Verifying your game through steam to look for bad files. I would also consider removing all your mods/scripts/asi's and redownloading what you need fresh.

  • @H3llo You know, like I said - I appreciate you trying to help and everything. But I think I made it very clear that I've gone above and beyond doing all of that.

How much more "verification" can you get than re-downloading the whole game? I'm not even reusing my old mods folder. I had Open IV make a new one, from scratch. I redownloaded a bunch of bare bones essentials, installed the mods necessary to make the scenes I had previously, and then I tried again. Of course I've swapped out different asi scripts to see if any particular one was the problem, of course I did all of that - that's why I came here. This problem has persisted cross computer, and I don't know what your test proves, considering you don't have the steam version - and your editor's not going to crash anyway because you don't have the clips I'm using.

Like I said the best I could come up with for why this is such a persistent problem is that it's some kind of anti-cheating measure. If it's not I don't know what I'm supposed to do about it, because I have almost literally tried everything.

  • @futurestoryteller

I'm trying to tell you that it's not a Anti-Cheat measurement when i can do what you want to do. It doesn't matter about it being steam version or not. ( I am downloading a steam version to test this currently )

Either way there is something that is conflicting in your old clips ( How bad do you need these old clips ? ) and or a certain script or mod you've downloaded either now or in the past saved to those clips.

I'd use a process of elimination of trying to record clips with no mods/then loading mod by mod and waiting to see the cause of the crashes.

Remove your old clips to another folder and try recording with a clean clips folder.

I know it's frustrating these issue you're going through and you appreciate me " trying to help and everything " but don't forget i'm just a normal user like you, i'm taking time out of my day to help you!

If i don't have the immediate answer you're looking for or you don't find it very insightful move on and we can keep trying with other stuff.

  • @H3llo It's not a joke to me, I really do appreciate the help, and I'm glad you haven't totally overreacted to what I said, because I know tone can be hard to read from text. I was just pointing out that I did already say I had reinstalled the game, and that I had pretty much downloaded everything recently, in trying to troubleshoot this problem.

There's some possibility that methods I tried previously that didn't work are plausible fixes now that circumstances have changed, but it's demoralizing, because it is currently the same problem, and I'm not really sure where to start, nor do I have much faith in that miracle.

( How bad do you need these old clips ? )

Yeah, that's the thing, It's too much, I can't redo those clips, but I really am much more concerned with why I can't load the multiplayer map. Because if I do want to redo it, or for some reason those clips are "magically" compatible again in the future I can still make new stuff in a more diverse array of locations.

I'm not unreasonable, it's weird to me that the clips won't work. If I say... remove a character model and try the clip it just plays with an invisible character, usually, so I'm hard pressed to figure out what could make those incompatible, but if I can only be assisted in fixing the map issue, I'll take what I can get, if I can get it. I suspect they are the same issue though.

Seems like it's probably a memory problem, but I don't know why the possibilities seem limitless now, with the new updates and the packfilelimitadjuster, until I try to load an MP map, and then all of a sudden the mods are crashing.

  • @H3llo Wow, this is truly remarkable. You will be shocked to learn (or maybe not, how the hell should, I know, lol) that the problem was directly linked to the local save profile, in the documents folder.

You see I have addonpeds, which automatically adds a folder titled "usermods" to the local profile so I tried removing that file and...

Yeah - nothing happened. Of course.

That was like three months ago, but I realized today that one of the few things I never tried before was removing the "GTA V" folder from its Rockstar Games parent folder entirely. So I set it aside on my desktop, and... the game loaded. Then I tried teleporting with menyoo into a nightclub, but the mission failed. I didn't see much, but it seemed like confirmation enough that MP maps were on. So, I took my clips and projects, put them back in the new "GTA V" folder. - I had to reload the game, but they all worked flawlessly; added some mods - still flawless.

I don't have everything situated just yet, but I think it's fair to say: going from a 0 to (so far) 100% success rate is a pretty promising start.

I think the reason I never stumbled upon this solution anywhere is because it's deceptively simple. No one expects that data to be the problem because they think mods are the problem, and to my knowledge mods never touch that folder. So seeking a solution there seems counterintuitive.

I appreciate everything you've done for me man, seriously, I almost certainly would not have honed in on this if we hadn't had this conversation.

Now the one thing that pisses me off is I have to replay the fucking early missions again.

  • @futurestoryteller Honestly i'm so glad you got it fixed. You're right about it being something that is quite easily over looked. It's definitely something i will remember in future from now on.

Congratulations and have fun ( where you can after the early grind haha).

  • @H3llo Yeah, actually, I'm still just an idiot. Remember when I said this?

There's some possibility that methods I tried previously that didn't work are plausible fixes now that circumstances have changed

Evidently that's what really happened. It was the usermods folder exacerbating the problem, it just evidently was not the whole problem the first time I tried that. Now it seems to be the only problem. Which just makes me wish even more that it was updated. Considering the game crashes if I add one extra ped beyond a certain point, but I could put a whole map there and not see a problem.

Seeing as this is now the known issue, do you happen to know the value to change for overall peds? Or this is just a problem of them all being within the same file?

This is not the most important thing in the world, but it's still pretty annoying, and I do need it for a couple of things.

  • @H3llo Nevermind, figured it out on my own again. Game was having trouble handling ped names outside the standard format, (such as "s_m_y_army") for this reason formatting addonped names correctly stabilizes the game (or at least Menyoo/Simpe Trainer.) In my defense this was never necessary before, but to anyone who has had this problem this is likely to be your solution. Even if your problem is with other addons, such as props.

  • @futurestoryteller You've had some of the most annoying little things causing such a big impact to your game it's unreal. Honestly thanks for keeping the thread updated with the solution and good on you for the work you put in fixing your game.

  • @H3llo Bro, fucking tell me about it, I've been having trouble with this kinda shit for literally years now - at least it seems that way anyway, you should see what I'm dealing with right now.

Frankly it's probably not worth the effort, but I'm embracing the fallacy of "sunken cost" - it's as good a hobby as any, but honestly, I probably should do something productive with my life.

People are on here showing off their modeling skills and making bank, and I'm trying to make a machinima no one will watch. Such is life, I suppose.
