Make the search engine on your website not suck ass
-
Hi all, I'm really glad the operators of this website are using their valuable time to delete tongue and cheek comments directly related to films that could easily be associated with the mods they're posted on, and not - you know, the ones saying vaguely racist things, or people making casual reference to their enjoyment of watching churches, or the twin towers burn to the ground - but if it's not too much trouble, can you bother, after so many years, to fix the shittiest search engine I have ever seen?
If I type "Zippo," I get all of Zippo Raid's mods. If I type "Raid" I get all of Zippo Raid's mods. If I type "Zippo Raid," I get "no search results" - This is despite the fact that using "raid" will get you search results like "Long Braided Haircut For MP Female" ... okay... is your engine too sensitive or too restricted?
Why wouldn't using the guy's whole name work? It might as well say "I'm sorry, your search was way too specific"
If I type in "The Character Clothes Mod" I get instant results. If I type in "The Character Vehicles Mod" I get nothing. If I type in "The Character Vehicles" I get nothing. If I type "The Character" Then it shows in the results. Just because I naturally added an "s" to the word vehicles, consistent with the other mod your engine functions as though nothing like that search ever existed on this site. One letter, no results.
Maybe there is an indexing problem once in awhile, but the search function simply sucks either way.
I've had instances where no combination of letters or words worked, leading me to believe the mod had been deleted, only for me to discover the link via Google search.
I mean, can you fix this already? If you're not too busy erasing innocuous comments that is. Wouldn't want to interfere with that important work. Thanks for all the hard work I'm sure will be done to resolve this issue...

Thank you for the bug report.
Search is very difficult to do. This is why many websites outsource their search function to engines like Google, Algolia, etc.
Your complaints about comment deletions are not relevant to this bug report, and are just rude.
If you find something that you believe is against the rules, report it! Moderators can't find every single bad comment or mod, we need help. Also, the moderators' judgement on what's bad and what isn't might be different than yours. If you think this is a problem, tell the administrator.

The moderators that browse the site and delete comments, approve mods, etc. are not the same people that deal with the technical aspects of the site. They are employed by the owner(s) who operate multiple other websites, afaik.
Also yes the search sucks; personally I just search single words or use Google.

Thank you for all the superfluous sarcasm. It was really helpful and will no doubt help us to resolve this issue faster.
Regardless, we have placed a ticket in our bug tracker to take a look at the issue of spaces causing complications in the search.

@Dark0ne You're very welcome. I hope I wasn't a big meanie.
