Random crash

Hello all. I of course got the recent update and just carried on using a backed up EXE, but for some reason, randomly overnight, it's stopped working.
I mean I've been doing this for years, avoiding the update-incompatibility thing, but this one time my executable is not being accepted. Just insta crash after about 40 seconds of loading (Which btw is pretty much ingame for me, maybe 2 more seconds)
Is this because my mods folder is in the way? I thought so too, so I moved it and am still getting the problem.
Have Rockstar patched this "work around", and if they have why was it working last night?
